? Proportions over pixels. Discovering concepts like Modular Scale and the Golden Ration early on helped me orient my eyes to designing within visual systems and ratios rather than rigid linear grids. I hope with the new focus on tokens within design systems, designers get access to more tools that leverage proportions and scales to create visual harmony within their designs. ?? Modular Scale: The original web tool, developed way back in 2010 by Tim Brown fundamentally changed how I thought about typographic hierarchy. https://lnkd.in/gS-W9HRT ?? Proportio: The web app by Nate Baldwin blows my mind and provides designers a playground to develop an entire system of proportional measures across type, layout and shape. https://proportio.app/ ?? Typescale: Figma plugin by Sam Smith meets designers where they are and allows them to generate a range of type scales right within Figma. (see screenshot for output) https://lnkd.in/gZPwi_YZ With Figma's release of typography variables last week, I'm excited to see what tools come next to enable natural visual harmony! #design #ui #designsystems #modularscale #typography #figma

When to use dynamic color? Dynamic color will automatically create an accessible color scheme based on a specific source color. Because the UI could end up with any number of different source colors, it's best to initially design it using the baseline color scheme so you can ensure the right color roles are mapped to the right components in your product. You'll use the?Material Theme Builder?to see how your UI mocks look across a range of source colors and adjust it as-needed. Use dynamic color if: 1. You want your product to showcase personalization 2. You want the colors to change base on a user's wallpaper or in-app content 3. You want your product to offer user-controlled contrast settings 4. You aren't sure if you'll need to also use a mix of dynamic and static colors (you can customize your color scheme to include static colors as your work progresses) Figma Adobe Google #UIDesign #Design #Material

Switching modes using variables in Figma involves creating and applying design tokens that can easily change across your designs, allowing you to implement things like light and dark modes. Step 1: Set Up Your Figma File and Variables Step 2: Define Variables for Light Mode and Dark Mode Step 3: Apply Variables to Components Step 4: Refine and Finalize Example Workflow Summary: - Create Variables for both light and dark modes (colors, typography, etc.). - Apply Variables to your design elements like buttons, backgrounds, text, and more. - Set up Prototyping to switch between light and dark modes using the variable sets. - Test and Refine the design to ensure everything works smoothly. That’s it! By using variables, you can efficiently manage design tokens for multiple modes and ensure consistency in your designs, saving time when making global updates. #Figma #Variables #Shorts #Mode

Day 13: Adding Beautiful Shadows and Blurs in Figma Today, I explored the art of adding shadows and blurs to enhance my designs: - Inner Shadow : I learned how to create subtle inner shadows that add depth to elements by making them appear slightly inset. - Drop Shadow : This technique helps to make elements stand out by adding a shadow that appears behind them, giving a 3D effect. - Background Blur : I discovered how to apply a blur effect to backgrounds, which creates a frosted glass effect that can make your design feel modern and sleek. - Layer Blur : This technique blurs the content of a layer, adding a soft focus effect that can enhance visual appeal. Incorporating these effects helps create a more polished and professional look in my designs! #UIDesign #FigmaTips #Shadows #Blurs #DesignJourney #UXDesign
