Imposter Syndrome affects all of us at different points in our lives. Starting my first corporate job was daunting. As a recent grad who had never worked in an office environment, I was nervous about how others would perceive me and got in my head about if I was doing good work, or even qualified to be where I was. I am so lucky to have a great, supportive team at Venor that has shown me that I deserve my seat at the table and that I am right where I am supposed to be. ?? Who I'm becoming at 60: A 31 yr old home chef from Wales? I've done my deep work and here's who I'm becoming: 1. No need to retire, I love what I do. I know my purpose, aligned with my life's work, and I found my WHERE (God's Green Acre - Ozarks, Arkansas). For clarity, I've lived in 19 locations, worked in 3 different industries, so clearly I didn't have it all figured out. Arkansas is home base. Chicago will be our "second-city", smack dab in Lincoln Park next to William Ticoras. Will, call me, so we can coordinate. 2. I can FEED people. It's why I blew a wad of money, for Culinary School, earned after we sold our company to Medtronic. My house on Friday nights, I'm literally feeding people. I seek to, uniquely, serve surgeons by helping them digitize trust and build thought leadership. I'm figuratively feeding surgeons w/experience on how to do it. 3. Lightship EV/RV road-trips. I want to road trip with some of my favorite surgeons and Eric I Anderson manning remaining electrical charge. Think Big Fish meets Secret Life of Walter Mitty. My 3rd & 4th Quarter of Life Strategy: Figure out how SMALL is big enough.

We're already much than halfway done May 2024 (what is time?), truthful let's observe by enjoying the funniest signs of the week, courtesy of r/funnysigns: 1. Tomorrow morning I'll be attending my first global Committee meeting for the Mental Capacity Special Interest Group of STEP – Advising Families Across Generations ?? ?? With Committee members from across the globe, we have an early start at 6:00am Toronto time (which frankly, is a sleep-in given my toddler's sleep habits ??). In 2023, the Mental Capacity SIG was able to develop two important initiatives: ? 1) a Global Representative Power, which provides a template/benchmark for an enduring Power of Attorney that is globally recognized, to serve as a "best-practice" template for governments globally; and ?? 2) a detailed research report on the Loss of Mental Capacity: A Global Perspective, to determine the impact an ageing population and increasing dementia cases have on capacity-related issues experienced by clients and professionals' practices. Mental Capacity issues are on the rise across the globe, and awareness, education, and innovative solutions are required to help protect vulnerable persons experiencing capacity decline. With that said, I'm excited to see what STEP's Mental Capacity SIG can accomplish in 2024 ??

Perfect, until to you got to the 'nothing to eat or drink after midnight'! PLEASE, unless that specific blood test prohibits drinking water, please tell your patients they can have water, they should have water, their normal amount of water! Fasting means NO CALORIES - water has no calories. The need their water and should have their water. If you reduce their water intake (to less than normal) you have artificially CONCENTRATED their blood (in essence, almost the equivalent of dehydrating them). This FALSELY ELEVATES their serum levels of glucose, cholesterol, etc., and falsely elevates the blood cell counts (RBCs, WBCs, etc.). Elevates by how much - who knows - but that is the point. Normal water intake throughout the 12 hours before the blood test, just nothing to eat or drink that has CALORIES - so to speak. [P.S. the patient will be happy to know they can have water (and maybe even their black coffee, no cream or sugar). Sorry, JUST HAD TO COMMENT ON THAT! Compromised blood tests are my thing!
