If a project has a name like “datacentre migration” or “ERP Implementation”, you might need to use an outcome chain: ? The project has been labelled - what it's for has already been decided, even though it might not be right. A common problem is when organisations say they've implemented a new system - and consider that's the capability. Use outcome chains to: → See if you are delivering the capabilities needed -> to deliver the change needed -> to achieve the desired outcomes. → Test the validity of the story you are trying to tell → Show when an outcome is not an outcome - uncover the problem you need to solve.
