Sorry if this sounds like a rant, but it seems to be taking over our business culture. Hiring processes: what happened to the personal touch and where did AI and algorithms slip into an otherwise adventurous and exciting interaction? Now we have to meet “key words” and ambiguously defined metrics in order to even get to an interview. I guess if you know how to play the “game” it has its own allur but for someone like me who enjoys the face-to-face interaction, getting kicked out of the running before you even start is getting old. I’m sure it works for large corporations who have hundreds of applicants, but does it really? When retention is no longer the solution, just a warm body, algorithms are not filtering correctly. Keep using the “shortcut”, but if you want my opinion, actually talk to the applicant and you’ll be more successful in retaining good employees.
