?? Mold in Your Attic: Causes and Solutions Mold in your attic? Don’t panic! Let’s dive into the causes and how to address them: Excessive Moisture: Mold thrives in damp environments. Are you feeling the cold? The cooler weather coupled with energy prices going up from today, means we all need to keep our homes as warm as possible without ramping up the heating. So what can you do? 1 - adding reflective radiator foil behind your radiators reflects heat in to your room 2 - if you have a chimney, check out a product called a chimney sheep to keep out draughts (credit goes to Clare Spiers MCIPD - People Boost for sharing this with me!) 3 - insulate, insulate, insulate. This could mean keeping curtains closed in rooms you don't use by day. Taping up key holes for doors that aren't regularly used, checking how draught proof your letterbox is, adding a good old fashioned draught excluder along doors that let in cold air, adding a curtain inside your front door - the list is endless, but now is the time to be checking. Stay warm, without it costing the Earth. #insulate #draughtproof #keepwarm #reduceyourenergybill

I love this analogy... Think of temperature as the size of a bucket of water. If you want 20 degrees, that is 20 litres of water. But when the heating drops, let's say to 12 degrees, the amount of water doesn't just drop with it - it has to go somewhere. Moisture in the air settles on cold surfaces, like condensation on a cold glass. It doesn’t "sweat" through walls — it simply collects on cool spots as air temperature drops. That’s why you see condensation on windows. Simon Martin, AKA The Waterproofing Guru ?? ?? #crownstone #waterproofing #thewaterproofingguru
