Thank you to Ohio Governor Mike DeWine (Office of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine) for declaring December 2024 “Impaired Driving Prevention Month” in Ohio. Impaired driving is a public health crisis that we must tackle immediately. This declaration in Ohio and recently in Oklahoma by Governor Stitt, helps to drive critical awareness around the dangers of impaired driving. ??Every 79 seconds, someone is killed or injured in a drunk driving crash in the U.S. ??Drunk driving fatalities have increased nationally by 33% since 2019 ??The average drunk driver drives drunk more than 80 times before their first arrest ??Ignition Interlock Devices (IID) have prevented more than 35 million intoxicated vehicle starts ??States that fully maximize IID usage have seen 26% fewer fatal crashes compared to others with weaker laws Our work is FAR from over, but we will continue to drive similar initiatives nationwide for safer roads, especially during the upcoming holiday season. #DUI #Ignitioninterlocks #mindr #intoxalock #preventimpaireddriving #impaireddrivingpreventionmonth #saveliveswitheverystart

It’s been a super productive week in the nation’s capital where three of our board members — Karen Sisson, Esq., Brandy Nannini and Debra Coffey — participated in an ignition interlock symposium at the US Transportation Department’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and then led a congressional briefing at the US Capitol on the End DWI Act (HR 8213), legislation to compel all 50 states to enact an all-drunk driving offender ignition interlock law. Looking forward to joining Maryland MVA, legislators, MADD and other safety advocates on Monday to celebrate the state’s newly expanded model ignition interlock law (Noah’s Law) going into effect.
