I am from doing a personal research on possible tech. innovative solutions that could be deployed in disaster striken areas. Then I came across this post by Human Rights Watch. The stories of violence and suffering shared in this video are heartbreaking. Some of my finding I believe if they could be considered and put in action several lives could be saved. While addressing the root causes of such violence requires comprehensive, long-term efforts, innovative technologies could offer immediate, actionable solutions that can help end suffering and enhance support for survivors. 1. Wearable Safety Tags for Survivors: Bracelets or pendants with Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology can store emergency contacts and survivor profiles, ensuring quick access to assistance. 2. Talking Drones for Real-Time Communication: Drones equipped with loudspeakers and lights can guide survivors to safety and broadcast emergency messages. 3. Mobile Pop-Up Relief Units with Satellite Internet: Portable units providing satellite connectivity, medical aid, and basic security tools can deliver lifesaving resources to isolated areas. 4. Drone-Based Mesh Networks: Establishing temporary communication networks with drones can reconnect survivors and responders in disaster zones. These technologies are not solutions to the underlying issues but tools to provide immediate relief, raising survivor voices, and bridge gaps in infrastructure. I stand in solidarity with survivors and echo the urgent need for global action. Let's amplify these stories, support innovation, and push for a world where safety, dignity, and justice are not privileges but rights for all. #HumanRights #Haiti #InnovationForChange #SupportSurvivors #TechForGood #EndViolenceAgainstWomen
In Haiti, criminal groups are perpetrating widespread sexual violence against girls and women. Many survivors have limited access to protection and emergency care services, including health care, shelter, and legal assistance. https://bit.ly/3ZnJgaQ

14 July marks the Day of National Remembrance for 'honour'-based abuse victims. In the year ending 31 March 2022, police in England and Wales recorded 2,887 offences related to honour-based abuse, reflecting a 6% increase from the previous year. ? Honour-based abuse is a grave issue, committed to defend the 'honour' of a family or community, but it is a crime that undermines the fundamental rights of individuals. It's crucial for us to raise awareness and take action against such practices. We remember all victims and survivors of ‘honour’-based abuse today. #EndHonourBasedAbuse #Womensrights #EndViolenceAgainstWomenAndGirls #HumanRights #CommunitySafety

July 30 is observed as World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. This global awareness day aims to shed light on the grave issue of human trafficking and raise awareness about its impact on vulnerable populations. The theme for this year’s campaign is “Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking.” Children represent a significant proportion of trafficking victims worldwide, with girls being disproportionately affected. In fact, 1 in 3 victims of human trafficking globally is a child. Efforts to combat child trafficking include improving legislation, law enforcement, and victim support services. Let’s work together to protect vulnerable groups and support child victims of trafficking.

"The depths of their suffering will be unimaginable to most people in Scotland, but none of us should turn away from it. "This is one of the most extreme cases of abuse ever seen in a Scottish court, but every day children and young people in Scotland are experiencing violence and abuse." Mary Glasgow speaking following the sentencing of 7 people for horrific child abuse offences. In this tragic case, signs of concern were evident in the community: a gaunt, lice-infested girl and a malnourished, restless boy seeking refuge in public spaces. These red flags highlight the vital duty we all have to report concerns about vulnerable children. Early intervention can prevent further harm, but it requires services to work together, to share information and join the dots and collectively keep young people safe. Collaboration is essential to protect those at risk and ensure no child slips through the cracks. Some advice and guidance at: https://lnkd.in/e7rfxiAi https://lnkd.in/eXjb57S5

TW: Suicide In this clip is from our film – ‘Invisible Children’, Jesse shares her experience on how her parent’s imprisonment affected her into adulthood. It is crucial that the children of today with a parent in prison are afforded a safe, non-judgemental environment to process the trauma around their parent’s imprisonment. Early intervention can break this cycle of trauma and give children a chance at a healthy, stable future. We need a national, statutory mechanism of identification for all children with a parent in prison – so that this can become a reality. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay
