This engagement, starting mid-September, aims to shape the future of training for apprentices and how funding is allocated for 2026-29. Your voice is crucial in this process. In light of the CITB's industry outlook for 2024-28, which highlights the need for over 250,000 additional workers by 2028, these negotiations are more important than ever. With the construction sector poised for growth under a committed government, ensuring we have the skilled workforce necessary is essential for seizing upcoming opportunities. ?? The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) England have achieved the Leaders in Safeguarding Award. CITB is the industry training board?for the construction sector in England, Scotland, and Wales. It is their job to help the construction industry attract talent and to support skills development, to build a better Britain. They are an executive non-departmental public body in charge of their budget and activities. Sponsored by the Department for Education, they are also accountable to government ministers, and ultimately to Parliament. Their Strategic Plan 2021-25 sets out the key skills challenges for construction and what they will do over the next few years to help address them. ?? Important Update for the Construction Industry ?? As we prepare to close out 2024 and welcome 2025, a significant change is on the horizon for the construction sector. Starting 1st February 2025, CITB has announced that Industry Accreditation cards, often referred to as Grandfather Rights cards, will no longer be valid. This change is expected to impact over 60,000 workers across the industry. What does this mean? From 2025 onwards, Grandfather Rights will no longer be recognised as a qualification for obtaining or renewing a CSCS card. Workers relying on these cards will need to secure a minimum of a NVQ Level 2 qualification within your trade of practise to remain eligible to work on construction sites. ??
