ENTR 398: Week 3 Reflection This week was a hard one for me. On Saturday, I filmed my last wedding of the season, which was fun and very exciting. But also came with the realization that I still have a whole different wedding film begging for attention, along with WWU Athletics ramping up, which left me with lots of stress and anxiety coming into this week. Not to mention, I had two meetings this week with my boss and my advisor, both centered around what my goals are for this year and what I want to do after graduation. But one thing that stuck with me this week was something I saw while scrolling on social media, and that was the term, solopreneur. Now, by definition, a solopreneur owns and runs a business alone, without the help of a partner or employees. That is what you could consider myself, as I like to call myself a freelance videographer and editor, one guy running his dream of having a production company. But my success hasn't just been from myself alone, but the connections I have made with others and those that have helped me grow with this passion of mine. In the past, I have dealt with professors, teachers, and peers telling me that this passion of mine wouldn't bring anything good. But as my advisor, boss, coworkers, and newfound friends and colleagues reminded me, I am in the right place. That my work will bring me success down the road and that it's ok to not know where I want to be a year from now. This feeling is thanks to those who have given me the opportunities to grow and learn through trial and error. From summer-long internships to simple advice and coaching on my business, I feel that I don't quite fit as a solopreneur as there were so many who helped me get to this point. Officially just 1 day away from my first-ever Future Somebody Founder's PR & Marketing Masterclass! I'm beyond excited, nervously jittery, and everything in between. Why focus on founders? ??? Founders are brave, ambitious visionaries, but when you're building something brilliant, it's easy to get tangled in the weeds. Without the big budget (yet), connecting with your audience and building a community can feel daunting. In the digital age, I truly believe everyone can do it—they just need the right knowledge and tools. Eventually, they'll need more resources (hello, team!), but being scrappy and agile is where the real fun begins! The best advice I got at my first internship was to break something. The second best? When I started public speaking training, I was told to let go of the fear of embarrassment. Over the years, I've refined that to, "Don't be afraid to look like an ass; it usually means you're trying something new!" Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn and grow. Grab your last-minute tickets here: https://lnkd.in/dgj29gHV ?? : me embracing the ass! #Masterclass #PRMarketing #Founders #EntrepreneurLife #StartupSuccess #DigitalMarketing #CommunityBuilding #StartupJourney #AgileMarketing #ScrappyAndProud #PublicSpeaking #FearlessFounder #InnovativeThinking #LearnAndGrow #LastMinuteTickets

?? ?? ?? ?? In this #insightful clip from our latest episode with Helen Marx, we delve into the #challenges faced by #graduates and creatives trying to break into the creative arts industries. Helen candidly discusses the pervasive issue of gatekeeping and the often rigid requirements for "experience" that can stifle emerging #talent. Helen believes that to better platform these graduates and creatives, we need to create more accessible pathways into the corporate world. One solution she advocates for is the expansion of internships that not only focus on honing creative skills but also emphasize the development of essential soft skills. These programs can provide a dual benefit: offering practical experience in the creative field while also preparing individuals for potential transitions into corporate roles if their initial creative pursuits don't pan out. According to Helen, bridging this gap is crucial for ensuring that talent isn't wasted simply due to a lack of experience or opportunity. By integrating structured pathways that combine creative and soft skill training, we can better support the next generation of creatives and help them navigate the often challenging landscape of the creative arts industries. This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in understanding how we can build a more inclusive and supportive environment for creative professionals. Tune in to hear Helen's thoughtful perspectives and innovative solutions on how to empower graduates and creatives to thrive both within and beyond the creative sectors. ??? #CreativeArts #GraduateChallenges #Gatekeeping #InternshipExpansion #SoftSkillsDevelopment #InclusiveEnvironment #CreativeProfessionals

From Story to Success -#2 Today marked the first session of the summer internship for high school students. Before diving into the tasks planned for them, they were given an assignment to research the organization's website to familiarize themselves with the company. After everyone shared their thoughts, I asked what impression the website gave them about the company. Some students said it conveyed success, while others noted the wide range of services provided. However, one creative and innovative student remarked, "If I had to rate the website on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 7 because it doesn't fully align with what you do." I had mixed emotions about this feedback. On one hand, I was pleased that he shared his honest opinion rather than just trying to please me; on the other hand, I admired his respect for my values. The takeaway from this experience is the importance of fostering an environment where honesty is valued over flattery. Encouraging genuine feedback, especially from young minds, not only helps in personal and organizational growth but also reinforces the significance of integrity and open communication. Students speak from the heart, but as we grow older, we often overthink and filter our responses. Let’s strive to maintain that pure honesty in our interactions. And that's what is my go to mantra when I work with my clients. If you are an entrepreneur and want me to create a road map for you with you that is honest and not distracted by the digital noise then call me today. #lifelessons #personalgrowthmentor
