???? December is National Safe Toys and Gifts Month! As you shop, remember to keep your children safe from lead exposure, a serious health hazard often found in toys made overseas or in older collectibles. Here are some important points to consider: ?Lead in Toys: Lead can be present in paint (banned in the U.S. since 1978) and in plastics, which aren’t regulated. ?CPSC Recalls: The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issues recalls for toys that may pose a lead risk. ?Testing: We use XRF technology to test toys for lead, even if they were made after the 1978 ban. Contact us for a risk assessment and visit our website for more info! Companies often take shortcuts that put employees at risk of injury, primarily driven by financial and operational pressures. One of the most significant reasons for this is cost reduction. By skimping on safety measures, training, and proper equipment, companies can lower their immediate expenses, a strategy that is particularly prevalent in industries where profit margins are thin and the cost of complying with safety regulations can be seen as burdensome. Time constraints also play a crucial role. In fast-paced industries, there is constant pressure to meet tight deadlines, which may lead companies to prioritise speed over safety. This can push employees to work faster or for longer hours, often at the expense of safety protocols, thereby increasing the risk of accidents. Additionally, if safety regulations are not consistently monitored and enforced, companies might feel they can ignore these protocols without facing significant consequences. Many companies focus on short-term gains rather than long-term sustainability, favoring immediate results over the well-being of their employees. This short-sighted approach is often exacerbated by pressure from shareholders to deliver quick returns. Moreover, proper training can be time-consuming and expensive, and companies might cut corners to save resources, leaving employees unprepared to safely handle machinery or avoid hazardous situations. The culture of a company and the attitude of its leadership also play crucial roles in how safety is prioritised. If the leadership views safety measures as an optional or secondary concern, this attitude can permeate through the organisation, leading to a workplace where safety protocols are not taken seriously. Sometimes, companies might genuinely underestimate the risks associated with certain jobs or fail to update their risk assessments regularly, which can lead to inadequate safety measures. Despite the potential severe consequences, including legal action, reputational damage, and the human cost of injuries or worse, these pressures can lead companies to continue taking dangerous shortcuts. The ultimate solution lies in stronger regulatory enforcement, a shift in corporate culture towards valuing employee safety equally with productivity and profit, and a more informed and vigilant workforce that can advocate for safer working conditions.
A major pizza producer has been fined £800k after two employees were injured at its factory in Bolton in 2020. One worker had part of his middle finger severed after his hand was drawn between a roller and conveyor. Andrew Holloway said: “This has been the worst period of my life by far, not only have I suffered but so have my family.” You can read more about this prosecution here: https://lnkd.in/e3eAtsxD

Here's a startling truth for peak trading season: up to 97% of toys purchased from well-known websites don't conform with EU regulations, and 77% fail standard safety tests. As online shopping continues to dominate Christmas retail, the risk of non-compliant toys entering homes is increasing. From small detachable parts in toys meant for babies to toxic chemical content, the dangers are real. The challenge is, there's no international framework for toy safety. What's legal in one manufacturing region might be dangerous - or illegal - in another. Understanding local safety standards is crucial for global market access - something we discuss in our blog post, "the nightmare before Christmas". You can read it via the link below. #Christmas #ChristmasShopping #Toys #Toysafety #Compliance

Supporting local matters. This is a bleak reminder that buying counterfeit goods not only hurts the original creators and businesses, but also our local economy and jobs. When we choose counterfeit products, we're taking money away from legitimate businesses that employ our friends, family, and neighbors. This can lead to job losses, reduced economic growth, and a decline in community investment. Good on Woolworths for taking action here. Let's encourage all South Africans to support only genuine, locally-sourced, locally-produced products and services. #SupportLocal #CommunityFirst #ProudlySouthAFrican https://lnkd.in/dKimdFi3

This unboxing experience has me fired up! ?? Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Sam’s Club girlie and I won’t convert to any other wholesaler. Ever. But this just doesn’t make sense. Excessive void fill ? Large shipping box ? And even in the attempt to prevent product damage, my poor peanut butter cover cracked anyway! ?? Volume utilization…terrible. ????♀? This one really speaks for itself. We need to prioritize better parcel packing. ?? #cartonization #parcelfulfillment #ecommerce #supplychain

It’s disappointing when celebrities use their platform to disparage hardworking individuals in the grocery industry, especially during tough times. Grocery owners and workers have been on the front lines, ensuring families have access to food despite ongoing challenges. Calling grocery owners “pigs” reflects a lack of understanding of the vital role these people play in our communities. They deserve appreciation and respect for their dedication, especially as they navigate supply chain issues, rising costs, and increased demands. Instead of name-calling, public figures should focus on uplifting others and finding real solutions. We attack problems, not people. We should work together to address the issues, without resorting to pettiness and divisive language.
Has always been difficult to take this show serious, but day after day the hosts prove just how disconnected to real America they truly are.. Wish Whoopi had moved out of the country last time she promised us. Shame on her for using her platform to talk down to hard working men and women who strive daily to provide food to families who are struggling during such a difficult time for so many..

The lapse was identified by security researcher Eaton Zveare, were found in the APIs of the delivery system associated with McDonald’s India (West & South), which is owned by Hardcastle Restaurants. This meant anyone could access, hijack, redirect, or real-time track orders, or make legitimate orders for $0.01, by interacting with the company’s API. #mcdonald #india
