Role: Marketing Manager
Roles and Responsibility: Produce yearly marketing strategy, manage multiple websites, run all social channels, create and edit videos, stakeholder management, produce website and blog copy, design and edit brochure and leaflet content, manage email marketing systems, research target prospects and produce direct mail outreach campaigns, SEO, Google Ads and absolutely everything a marketeer could be expected to do.
Salary: Minimum wage.
Of course, I'm joking... but we really do see this often.
Companies need a lot doing when it comes to their marketing.
Most are doing nothing.
So they try to save costs by hiring a single individual to do absolutely everything.
Even the most experienced marketing managers won't be able to do all of the above... certainly not to a good standard.
Our founder Karen James has been marketing for over 35 years, but even she couldn't cover all bases as described above.
Businesses must be realistic, produce a marketing strategy that prioritises their best channels, and has a clear plan, with KPI's for how to deliver against them.
If you hire someone, on a low salary, with huge expectations... you're setting you both up for disappointment.
