It is strong textured and highly weather-resistant. Although oak is extremely strong, it is good to carve. Oak is a very good wood for sculpting. Ash is distinguished by its creamy color and is difficult to chisel. It is considered one of the more valuable hardwoods, suitable for making wooden sculptures of different sizes. Basswood is a great wood for carving, characterized by pinkish white to pale yellow color and a few knots. Pine wood is also soft, but unlike basswood, with many knots.

Rodin's Thinker statue weighs roughly 2,000 pounds. Sculpted out of bronze and mounted on a stone pedestal. While this sculpture may be appeasing to look at it makes other wonder. How many Rodin Thinkers would it take to weigh similar to the TUR 800 with an 8.6" bore and 118" center distance? Could you imaging 12 of these sculptures lined up still not equaling the weight of (1) TUR 800 x 3000mm (24,250 pounds). The weight was designed into this lathe's monolithic bed for greater dampening characteristics while maintaining its superb ergonomics. Even the anchor of the cruise ship, Queen Elizabeth 2 weighed 24,900 pounds with the design to anchor the ship. An old way to judge a machine tool was to look at its weight. ???? You know what this is…It’s world famous… ??Of course, this is Michangelo’s, “David”. A timeless representation of the Renassaiance and the city of Florence. ??However, it didn’t start like that… ??? In 1408, a Florence Commission purchased a huge marble slab. Several famous sculptors used it to create work including Donatello. Eventually, the commission requested a representation of “David” from “David and Goliath” using the slab. ?? However, after years of use, the marble itself was rejected numerous times citing it’s now POOR QUALITY. The marble then sat outside to endure the elements for over a quarter of a century. ??Until Michaengelo came along… ??So, remember this next time you send a project, audition, idea, or proposal and…it goes nowhere, sits on the sidelines, or you hear “not sure this is the right time”, or you’re waiting for an email that never comes. ??? The design concept of Dishui Lake comes from the overall planning scheme of Nanhui New City originally proposed by German GMP company Drip Lake: A drop of water from the sky falls into the sea, causing ripples and forming a surface with a diameter of 2.5 kilometers and an area of 5.66 square kilometers. This area presents a "one lake, three rings" urban development pattern and is the comprehensive functional service area of Nanhui New City. The sculpture at the center of Dishui Lake is composed of eight elliptical rings, symbolizing the convergence and communication from all directions; The hemisphere beneath the main body of the sculpture resembles water droplets dripping and splashing bubbles, solidifying the natural scenery of this moment and reflecting the dynamic beauty of the sculpture.
