When the algorithm places posts on my feed, I try to react honestly without regard for hurting anyones feelings. I am being targeted with content, so I am being prodded to react. I am a social justice warrior at the core. I don't give a damn what religious lable anyone wishes to wear or more realistically had it branded on them as children and are doing their best to leverage that lable into doing something worthwhile for the world, their neighbors, or themselves. It is good to see people doing good work. We need social groups like these in every town. America would be a significantly kinder, friendlier, and safer place to live. However, it is extremely difficult to comprehend local social justice when globally we as American's (both Jews and Christians) are being programmed to support mass murder and the total destruction of life and property of people overseas that we cannot see or hear or help in any real way. It matters immensely how one answers this question. Is it only regional or local social justice we care about or does that notion apply to all people, everywhere? The lables Christian and Jew have been destroyed and redefined by those who lust for power and wealth. They have manipulated of our media and our government at every level to such an extent that we now have churches and temples cheering for mass murder labeled as self defense. White Nationals are not Christian and Zionists are not Jews. Anyone joining any social justice organization should be clear about the definitions going in because even Hitler and the Nazi's had millions of innocent families engaged in what they believed were social justice groups that were entirely for the benefit of the German people.

Today, Kinship has published the summary of a report into the experiences of #KinshipCarers from Black and Asian communities, based on findings from a research project with the Rees Centre Department of Education, University of Oxford supported by the KPMG Foundation. The research, led by Priya Tah from the Rees Centre aims to deepen understanding about the experiences of kinship families from Black and Asian Communities. As the focus on #KinshipCare grows, findings will be used to ensure that services (led by Kinship and others), policy and practice are more attuned to the needs of Black and Asian kinship carers. While the full report, Raised by Relatives: the experiences of Black and Asian kinship carers, will be published later in the year, to mark #BlackHistoryMonth Kinship has launched the executive summary of the report and co-hosted a webinar led by Kinship Trustee beverley barnett-jones in which the researchers discussed their key findings. We are writing this in memory of John McKnight, who together with the late Jodi Kretzman, founded Asset Based Community Development (ABCD), a framework that has profoundly impacted our operating philosophy and practices. When “Building Communities from the Inside-Out - a path toward finding and mobilising a community’s assets” was published in the 90s, we were inspired and deeply resonated with the notion that despite our deficiencies, all of us have strengths that enable us to live a productive and satisfying life. When discussing those of us who live on the margins, McKnight and Kretzman, asserted that “Every single person has capacities, abilities and gifts. Living a good life depends on whether those capacities can be used, abilities expressed, and gifts given. If they are, the person will be valued, feel powerful and well-connected to the people around them. And the community around the person will be more powerful because of the contribution the person is making.” Adopting this framing invigorated us as the children, youth and families that we encountered were no longer people buried in a pile of multiple problems but buried treasure waiting to be discovered. Today, as an agency that adopts a community development approach in addressing the challenges of those among us with less resources we hold on faithfully to this strengths perspective. We say to our members that, “To build community, we must recognize that: ? Everyone has a gift, ? Relationships are key, & ? Care emerges when people are a commitment to each other’s wellbeing.” John McKnight will always be a source of strength for our commitment to care.
