We can use data and #HealthIT to help clinicians address illness and the whole person, including their social determinants of health, unique needs, and potential for well-being. Morehouse School of Medicine National Center for Primary Care conducted a study on leveraging digital health tools (DHTs) and advancing health equity among underserved populations. They found the top factors for supporting digital health tool adoption include 1) Ease of Workflow Integration 2) Meets Patient Need 3) Improves Patient Health "Almost half of clinicians in the DHTS cited limited workflow integration as a barrier to DHT adoption." "Outreach tailored to community members should be leveraged to educate and engage them with the different DHTs." Conclusions: To maximize use of DHTs to advance health equity, healthcare transformation efforts should prioritize health equity and policies should account for challenges and barriers facing clinicians and patients, especially those that have important implications for health equity.?

Alhamdulillah Excited to share that our latest Systematic review has been published. Evidence reported that, globally the number of people aged 65?years or over is expected to grow by 56%, from 901 million to 1.4 billion, from 2015 to 2030. Besides, by 2050 the number of elderly people is expected to be double its size in 2015, reaching nearly 2.1 billion. However, the health system in low- and middle-income countries is yet to be aligned with this demographic transition of the growing aged population. Despite the urgency, our systematic review revealed a scarcity of research in this area, highlighting deficiencies in leadership, governance, financing, and essential resources. However, our evidence synthesis also proposes potential solutions such as telemedicine and cross-country collaboration through distance learning mechanisms to address these challenges. I'm excited to share that the Lancet Global Health Commission on People-Centred Care for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) was announced on May 29, 2024. ?? This groundbreaking initiative aims to operationalise the concept of people-centred care, moving beyond patient-centred care to promote not just functional, but meaningful lives. ?? People-centred care requires a whole-of-government approach that engages patients, carers, families and communities in shared decision-making to ensure health services are provided "at the right time, in the right place, in the right way". ?? The Commission seeks to fill crucial gaps by: ? Defining how people-centred care can be operationally defined, rigorously measured and effectively implemented across various settings and income levels. ? Determining the current state of care in different contexts. ? Developing optimal measurement approaches. ? Identifying best practices for the co-production of health systems and services.
