When teaching to law enforcement officers (who rarely obtain 'job satisfaction', in the form of a positive criminal justice outcome) I emphasize the countless opportunities to do just this....DESPITE the outcome (whether a tragic sudden death, suicide, or charges being recommended and approved - or not). Police officers, rather than measuring success, or job satisfaction based on the OUTCOME of your interaction, I invited you to measure success by HOW you showed up to the scene. Yet another deadly mass casualty attack with an edged weapon. One of many examples that can be helpful to help those who question how easy it can be to carry out a mass casualty attack with edged weapons understand the danger. While more prevalent in countries with very strict laws prohibiting the ownership of firearms, they also occur in the U.S. and must be considered in violence prevention and emergency preparedness efforts. While rarely garnering national media attention, my experience has been that non-fatal and single victim homicides are much more common on U.S. K12 school campuses than shootings. While fatality rates are higher for shootings, edged weapons violence is unforgettable to those of us who have survived edged weapons attacks as students. #activeassailant #schoolsecurity #schoolsafety

Our plan to make our streets safer is working.? ? And now we’re rolling it out nationwide.? ? We’re investing in every single police force in England and Wales to increase patrols tackling violence and disorder.? ? And there’s more good news. In our ten pilot areas, we’ve seen:? ? ? Delivery of over 80,000 hours of patrols in the six months since the pilots launched? ? Antisocial behaviour dropping by 36% in some areas. ? ? Close to 1,500 stop and searches and nearly 600 arrests? ? That’s on top of what we’ve already achieved:? ?? Recruited over 20,000 more police officers? ?? Crime cut by more than half since 2010? ??NOS, also called laughing gas, banned? ? Our plan to cut crime on our streets is working and we must stick with it.? ? We will not stop until every person, no matter where they live, can feel safe on our streets.?
