Welcome to #FutureFridays! ?? restor3d, a medical device startup based in Durham, North Carolina, has secured $70 million in funding to advance its development and marketing of 3D printed, personalized #orthopedic implants. The #investment includes a $55 million Series A round and $15 million in debt financing. ?? Their #implants, made from titanium alloy and cobalt chrome, offer improved anatomical fit and integration with human bone. After recently acquiring Conformis - acquired by restor3d, they expanded portfolio to include hip and knee implants.?? "There are some companies that have ventured into patient-specific in pockets, but they haven't been able to take that and scale it across the body like we have with our foot, knee, hip, shoulder, and spine solutions," remarked Jordan Wagner, Restor3d’s VP of Marketing The latest funding will help enhance its #manufacturing capabilities, enter the surgical robotics space, and develop a direct-to-patient marketing campaign. ?? While PolyUnity Tech Inc does not currently offer these products, we aim to raise awareness of the remarkable strides happening in medical #3Dprinting! ?? Read more: https://loom.ly/XfhujOs

#3DPrinting in healthcare is set to establish a new and amazing standard of care for cost-effective medical trainers, simulations, surgical/preoperative planning models, and customized implants. These advancements are set to reduce costs and most importantly directly improve patient outcomes. Personalized implants, that in many cases are only available via 3D Printing, improve reconstruction and repair, provide better anatomical fit and also integrate better with human bone and tissue. The process involves the generation of an accurate, patient-specific, 3D anatomical model from a digital CT scan. The digital 3D model can then be used to create a physical 3D model (via 3D Printing) for surgeons to conduct pre-operative planning. The 3D modeling can also be used to design and manufacture a patient-specific implant. #improvinghealthcare #3DPrinting #healthcareinnovation
