I am excited to introduce the MCDA Calculator, a new decision support tool designed to integrate various multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) methodologies, developed by the PSI Laboratory for Energy Systems Analysis (LEA). The genesis of the MCDA Calculator began during my discussions with Peter Burgherr about the complexities researchers face when implementing MCDA methods, especially the desire to experiment with different methodologies without encountering the steep learning curves and fragmented workflows typical of existing software. We recognized a critical gap in the tools available—a need for a system that could integrate various MCDA methods into a seamless, user-friendly platform. In response, we developed the MCDA Calculator to support practitioners in quickly and effectively applying multiple MCDA methods, focusing on analysis rather than software navigation.
