"We need more people who can take initiative." "I need less than 20 direct reports." My manager said "just figure it out" and left the meeting. These are the topics that keep surfacing as I listen to leaders in key roles. How do we reinforce the right things when we are just trying to survive the day or week? When did 20 direct reports ever become a great idea? And what does that mean--just figure it out? Wish I could be making this up. Yet, when I am listening to others about their day to day activities, this is becoming the normal for too many people. Good news is: This is solvable. Question: Is your current pain enough for needed change to take place? Give this a "like" if you have heard these comments before :)
