We are thrilled to share that Sheila Nale, P.E., alongside the 2024 Women Build team for Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. & Northern Virginia, successfully raised over $270,000. These funds were used to renovate three Habitat homes in the region. This outstanding effort highlights the team's commitment to promoting affordable housing and raising awareness. #shenailedit #giveback #community #affordablehousing
Last week, we held our 2024 Habitat for Humanity of Washington, D.C. & Northern Virginia Women Build luncheon. As part of our celebration, we heard about inclusive development, increasing women’s access to credit, office-to-residential conversions to increase affordable housing, and much more.?Our panel was moderated by Susanne V. Slater, President & CEO of Habitat DC-NOVA, special guests Diane J. Hoskins, FAIA, NCARB, Global Co-Chair of Gensler and Monica Warren-Jones, Director of Strategic Initiatives at Enterprise Community Loan Fund. We successfully raised over $270,000 for the construction and rehab of three Habitat homes in DC and Northern Virginia! This year’s campaign brought together more than 180 volunteers across 20 teams to support our Capitol Hill and Fairfax projects – helping to create affordable homeownership opportunities for women and their families over the next year. Construction update: Ballston Station/Central United Methodist Church in Arlington is nearly complete and slated to open this month. Bohler DC's Sheila Nale, P.E. recently led a site walk of the mixed-use project, which includes 144 affordable units, a daycare center, 2,500 SF of community amenity space, and a worship space for up to 200 people. We're thrilled to see this project come to fruition after more than a decade of planning. Perfect weather for a site walk! Thank you Charles Sims for allowing us to speak at today’s Urban Land Institute Next’s Site Walk of Unity at Ballston Station (Central United Methodist Church)! It was a pleasure working on this unique project with such a wonderful and skilled team. A decade+ in the making, and this will be ready to deliver in the coming month. Fun fact - this site has the family cemetery of the Ball Family (hence the name Ballston!) that had to be preserved during the design and construction of this project.
