Giving Back is the Cooperative Way: A Message from CEO Donnie Spivey "As you enter this season of traditions and celebrations, I urge you to focus on the important things in your life—faith, family and friends. It is so easy to get caught up in the “busyness” of the season, that we don’t allow ourselves to take the time to truly enjoy the most important parts of our lives." ?? Celebrating the Spirit of Giving: St. Nicholas Day What festive traditions does St. Nicholas Day hold in your heart? Observed on December 6, St. Nicholas Day is about the joy of generosity and the power of small, meaningful acts of kindness. Rooted in centuries-old traditions, it honors St. Nicholas, the patron saint of children and sailors, whose legacy inspires us to give selflessly and embrace the magic of the season. How is it celebrated around the world? - In the Netherlands and Germany: Children leave their shoes out at night, hoping to find small gifts, sweets, or even poems in the morning. - In France: The day includes parades, storytelling, and the exchange of gifts. - In America: St. Nicholas Day is a quieter celebration, with traditions often tied to family heritage. Simple Ways to Celebrate St. Nicholas Day: - Give Thoughtful Gifts: It’s not about extravagance—small tokens like handwritten notes, baked goods, or keepsakes can make someone's day. - Spread Kindness: Pay it forward with small gestures—buy a coffee for someone, leave an encouraging note, or volunteer your time. - Create Family Traditions: Share stories about the meaning of the day, bake together, or enjoy a meal with loved ones. - Incorporate Accessibility: Include everyone in the celebrations! For example, use inclusive recipes, accessible storytelling formats, and ensure digital invites or messages are readable for all. Why It Matters: Celebrating St. Nicholas Day isn't just about honoring the past—it's about creating a ripple effect of kindness and joy in today’s world. These small moments of connection and generosity remind us of the collective strength in unity and empathy. Let’s keep the spirit of St. Nicholas alive by spreading a little more kindness every day. ?? What’s your favorite St. Nicholas Day tradition? I just returned home this weekend from a big regional area meet in Pensacola and saw this. Wanted to share it as this is the beauty of cross country and how it would apply if we used that same spirit in our work and personal lives. These are not my words but as a 7+ year cross country mom, they very well could be. —- What if we lived life like we were all in a cross country meet? What if we watched other people and recognized that we're all just trying to get across the finish line? What if we understood that some people are running as hard as they can but battling illnesses, invisible injuries, and internal struggles? Every step is hard, but they're trying not to quit. What if we cheered for everyone even if they weren't on our team? What if we realized just finishing something, no matter how long it took us or how messy it seemed, was enough? In fact, it was a win. What if we used every race as an opportunity to learn more about ourselves and how we could use each other for support, inspiration, and help to reach our goals? What if we cheered loud for the winner, but even louder for the one who comes in after because they accomplished something great, too? In a world that tells us it's about me, me, me, what if we started living to support everyone brave enough to be in the race? What if we started treating our lives like we were all in the same cross country meet? What a beautiful world that would be. Love hard. Whitney Fleming Writes

For every accolade you see on the outside, there's a whole bunch of people and things that happened behind-the-scenes to make that happen. Case and point: This past Tuesday, Victoria Marshman & Dani S Kagan, Founders of Mave & Chez luxury ergonomic slippers (which, if you don't have a pair yet, GET. A. PAIR), invited me for lunch to help brainstorm the growth of my REUNION dance party with them. They sponsored one of our REUNION Dance Parties this Summer and left feeling so inspired and alive while saying, "What's your big dream with this? We want to help you make it happen". And so, this Tuesday, we did just that. They offered a ton of amazing ideas. Suggested a list of people I should connect with + offered to connect me with them, Then paid for MY lunch. I walked away thinking: "Huh?!?!!?" How, and why did that happen? It felt too good to be true. But, building and growing REUNION is showing me the true value of community and collaboration. And, that, when you build something straight from the heart, and lead with integrity, people WANT to help. In just 10 months, we've been able to celebrate a lot of wins with REUNION, including a huge feature on Narcity this week. But, one thing I know for sure, is that none of this would be possible without all of the people and support that happens behind-the-scenes.
