Our next NKY small business highlight of our Shop Local in November series is Better Blend! Better Blend is a company focused on wellness and changing how people eat healthily with nutritionally complete smoothies. Isaac founded Better Blend in 2018, setting out to offer its community fast, healthy options, that taste good but are nutrient-rich and made with clean ingredients. Much of Better Blend’s success is attributed to a strong internal culture. It’s about building a culture where the team operates with empathy. Better Blend received a grant from the NKY Entrepreneur Fund in 2023 which helped to fuel their Ambassador Program and feed hundreds of people while also giving them the opportunity to create inspiring content that helps their neighbors also eat healthy. Better Blend is opening its Highland Heights location (2885 Alexandria Way, Highland Heights, KY 41076) this Saturday, November 16th! Dear Community Partner, We are excited to explore the possibility of partnering with your organization or church to host an entrepreneurship?program on-site in the following areas; Riverdale, Calumet City, South Holland, Chicago Heights, Harvey, Chatham, Englewood, Posen, Dolton, Sauk Village, Roseland and North Lawndale. Our goal is to support local residents in launching their own nonprofit organizations, starting small businesses such as an LLC to sell products and services, or marketing their creative talents, such as photography, design, event planning, and more. Program Overview What We Offer:?Specialized business cohorts designed to guide participants through the process of starting their own venture, whether it’s a nonprofit, a local business, or a creative enterprise. Eligibility:?These services will be open to all community residents, with the startup costs covered by our agency for those who qualify. Session Structure: Frequency:?Sessions will be held once a week for 90 minutes in person at your location. Coaching:?Additional one-on-one coaching will be offered off-site, either virtually or in person, at our office in South Holland (401 East 162nd Street, Suite 105, South Holland, IL). Benefits to Your Community Empowerment:?Provide residents with the knowledge and tools they need to turn their ideas into viable business ventures. Hearing a message can be impactful. But nothing beats experiencing a message. When OCEAN Programs's first cohort gathered 10 years ago, it wasn’t enough to tell them, “You aren’t alone.” Entrepreneurs are often alone. They work alone. They often feel alone. We aren’t designed to work in isolation for extended periods which is why so often, entrepreneurs find themselves burnt out, isolated, and calling it quits. That belief directly informed how the OCEAN Accelerator and the larger OCEAN community were built. How do you instill in entrepreneurs the lasting value of community and relationships? By helping them experience it. Brian Duerring recently called out the power of OCEAN Accelerator not only in the investments for early-stage startups but also the resounding message (and lived experience) that entrepreneurs don’t have to go it alone. The earliest participants like Brian helped lay the foundation for the absolutely incredible OCEAN network that continues allowing entrepreneurs to experience that same original message: you are not alone. To the founders of Cohort 10, may this message encourage you as much today as it does ten years from now.
