When to Leave Your Job? Deciding when to leave a long-term job in India is pivotal. The best time is when you feel equally terrified and exhilarated. This balance of emotions keeps you grounded while driving optimism. Here are the key points to consider for a smooth transition: - Emotional Considerations: Leaving a job is not just a professional change but a deeply emotional one. It often involves feelings of disloyalty and the fear of losing social standing. - Overcoming Indecision: Many struggle with the decision of whether to stay or go. It's important to engage in small, low-risk projects to test new career waters before making the leap. - Managing Guilt: Leaving behind colleagues and unfinished projects can induce guilt, especially in a culture that values loyalty. - Adapting to New Roles: In a status-conscious society, moving away from a recognized position requires flexibility. Adapting to new roles and organizational cultures is crucial. - Navigating New Work Environments: Your new colleagues might view your skills with skepticism. Showing eagerness to learn and adapt is essential. - Navigating Emotions: The transition is filled with mixed emotions, from excitement about new opportunities to fears of failure. Timing the move strategically, considering both emotional readiness and professional needs, is crucial. By preparing for these challenges, your career transition can be strategic and rewarding, turning a daunting decision into a well-planned step forward. ------------------------ **About Blue Genes Research (BGR)**: BGR is a global, bespoke, boutique firm specializing in permanent, interim recruitment and business advisory. From the Desk of Bhawana Singh : Perched on my balcony, enveloped by the chilly embrace of a rainy day in United Kingdom, I found myself transported through time as if watching a movie reel of the past few months unfurl before me. It felt surreal, almost dreamlike, to reflect on the whirlwind of events that had unfolded—a journey encompassing marriage, relocation to the bustling city of Mumbai, and the subsequent quest for job opportunities in this vibrant new environment. In 2022-23, I embarked on a transformative journey when I was offered the remarkable opportunity to collaborate with TEAM RECRUITERS and ABHAY KUMAR Sir, in the realm of HR Consulting. Just as I began to unfurl my wings in this new venture, destiny beckoned me to embark on another adventure. Within a few short months, I found myself packing my bags, bidding farewell to my familiar surroundings, and venturing into a new city, a new locale, and a new nation—the United Kingdom. Navigating the time difference while working from the UK for Indian clients posed a significant challenge. Yet, with the unwavering support of a dedicated team and mentors guiding me at every turn, even the most daunting obstacles became surmountable. In the face of adversity, opportunities unveiled themselves precisely when needed, underscoring the profound truth that with resilience and a supportive network, anything is achievable. The advent of remote work has blossomed as a splendid opportunity for professionals particularly women such as myself, who harbor an ardent love for professional engagement, work-life balance and an insatiable wanderlust to traverse the globe. Though the initial transition may have presented challenges for many, the undeniable truth has emerged: working from home boasts a plethora of advantages that render it a compelling and appealing career path for professionals, myself included. One of the aspects I cherish most about working from home with Team Recruiters, is the ability to operate within my own comfort zone. It's a delight to work amidst idyllic weather conditions and pristine air quality, circumstances that undoubtedly contribute to enhanced productivity and overall well-being. #careergrowth #careeroptions #wfh #workfromhome #hrconsulting #talentacquisition #ta #hiring #recruitment #team #careergoals #careerpath #recruiter #opportunity #growth #mentor #worklifebalance #travel #teambonding #workculture

In India, companies are crazy about how much work experience you have. And somewhere in hiring the person with the right experience they compromise on integrity. This is where they lose. I believe that skills can be taught and experience can come with time but honesty is timeless. Now, you might argue, "But what about specialized roles that require specific expertise?" Fair point. Technical skills are the threshold, honesty is the differentiator. Hire for both, but if you have to choose, lean towards honesty. #hiring #workexperience #founder

Job seekers are looking for ?? Jobs and Recruiters are looking for ?? talent! The Hiring Dilemma in India: Perspectives from Both Sides?? Job seekers are actively hunting for opportunities, and recruiters are tirelessly looking for the right candidates. Yet, hiring or finding a job remains a challenging process in India today.?? From the Recruiter’s Perspective:???? India has a youthful workforce with immense potential, but the reality is different when recruiting. Many candidates lack the right skills, work ethics, or commitment. Some even don’t show up, while others quit midway. Companies, on the other hand, often expect candidates to catch the flow quickly, leaving little room for extended training. Even managers can't help as they are also under the tight KPI. From the Job Seeker’s Perspective:?? Job seekers are reaching out for referrals, scrolling through portals, and hoping for roles that offer balance—9:30 to 6:30 timings, two-day weekends, and workplaces that recognize and nurture talent. However, companies are busy being competitive and pilling up the next growth numbers to make a profit to survive or to satisfy investors. The Reality Check:? While candidates should be serious about their roles, it’s equally important for companies to invest time in onboarding and training to bridge the skill gaps. Being a Trainer, I feel this is most important. For those in their 20s, staying with a company for 2 years is often a strategic move for growth and exposure. After that, it’s about finding the role or company you love, or one that aligns with your aspirations. It’s a two-way street—companies and job seekers both need to adapt to each other’s expectations for the ecosystem to thrive.?? What’s your perspective? Let’s discuss!???????

Struggling with high attrition or candidates declining offers? In 2024's competitive Indian job market, a compelling benefits package is crucial for attracting and retaining top talent. Key elements include: 1. Comprehensive Health Insurance: As healthcare costs rise, extensive medical coverage has become more vital than higher salaries. Winning employers offer robust health benefits, including coverage for prescription drugs, hospital stays, vision, dental care, emergency travel, and wellness services like chiropractic and massage therapy. 2. Paid Time Off: Essential for combating burnout, generous paid leave is a clear sign of an employer's commitment to employee well-being. It enhances productivity and fosters long-term loyalty. 3. Flexible Work Arrangements: Post-pandemic, flexibility in work hours and location is highly valued, especially by younger workers who prioritize work-life balance. Employers must clearly communicate these benefits in job postings, aligning expectations and ensuring a cultural fit. Those who adapt to these employee needs will stand out in the market, improving stability and reputation. Prioritizing such benefits is not just an option but a necessity for modern employment contracts. ------------------------ **About Blue Genes Research (BGR)**: BGR is a global, bespoke, boutique firm specializing in permanent, interim recruitment and business advisory. Career Gaps Aren't Career Killers It's disheartening to see how often career gaps are still stigmatized in India. Despite our country's emphasis on holistic well-being, we often overlook the importance of mental health and personal growth. A recent study revealed that 70 % of job seekers facing discrimination due to career gaps. This is a stark reminder that we need to change our mindset. Last month, I had the privilege of interviewing a highly skilled candidate with a six-month career gap. Instead of focusing on the gap, I delved into their experience and skills. I was impressed by their work history at renowned companies and their passion for content writing. When I asked about the gap, they candidly shared their journey of overcoming a challenging period. Their resilience and determination were evident. I took a chance and offered them a freelance project. They not only exceeded expectations but also brought a fresh perspective to our team. Let's challenge the norm and create a more empathetic work environment. Here are some tips for recruiters to consider: ?Focus on Skills and Experience: Prioritize a candidate's abilities and accomplishments over their resume gaps. ?Ask Thoughtful Questions: Instead of dwelling on the gap, inquire about the candidate's personal growth during that time. ?Value Mental Health: Recognize that taking a break for mental health is a sign of strength, not weakness. ?Offer Flexible Work Arrangements: Consider flexible work options to accommodate diverse needs and circumstances. By embracing diversity and understanding that life happens, we can build a more inclusive and supportive workplace. #careergaps #mentalhealth #diversityandinclusion #worklifebalance #recruiting #hiring

Switching Jobs? Next Time Try Leaving on a Good Note The world is smaller than you think, and obviously, Noida is Noida (chota sa circle) and you never know when you might cross paths with your ex-manager/colleagues again. Serving notice period does not make you RAJA ??, trust me you never know whose help you might need next time. Okay, you might be leaving for any of the reasons and that might be the best decision as well, still leaving on good terms can open doors. You may need references from your previous employer or even consider returning to the company one day. Being transparent and leaving professionally reflects good character. It’s not just about leaving—it's about how you handle the transition and your growth as a person. Don’t hide your reasons for leaving—be transparent. A positive exit can count you as a good person, if not today maybe tomorrow then. As a company, your seniors might not show how much you matter, or maybe not. They will anyhow have to accept the transitions happening all the time and move on. Everyone feels at the end! India still struggles with leaving companies on good terms and managing teams effectively. This may explain why countries with strong professional norms prioritize thorough background checks. A positive exit and good management are essential for building trust and reputation in the workplace. I am Just a BD with some common thoughts. ?? #networking #switchingcompanies #lookingforajob #staffing #businessdevelopment #professionalism
