Grateful and humble, inspired and reassured. Last week in Berlin was an emotional journey, celebrating diversity and the collective talent in Data & AI. The Data Analytics Summit (#UNGDAS) by Uniglobal was a world of building new connections, learning from real-life Gen AI implementations, and charting the future of Data — all in just two packed days. As Chairperson of the event, I was grateful for the unconditional trust placed in me, and humbled by the responsibility to lead, ensuring all voices were heard and fostering a culture of “sharing is caring.” In preparing for the panel discussions, I asked participants, “What does success look like for you?” Their responses were heartening: “I want to share my story, hoping the audience finds it useful, and I want to be inspired by others.” How cool is that! Even with their busy schedules, data professionals find time to share both successes and failures with peers. Not every industry offers such openness and detailed, ready-to-use practices, potentially a goldmine for advisory and consultancy businesses to industrialize and deploy at scale. I was personally inspired by the top-notch innovation stories shared. The event’s quality was defined by the diverse attendees, their stories, questions, and opportunities. The mix of people, industry cases, cultures, ethics, small businesses, and multinational enterprises was wonderfully interconnected, fostering a safe and eager learning environment. Finally, I am reassured about the future of Data & AI. The foundations — data governance, data management, data quality, data architecture, and data literacy — will determine our success with AI. If there’s one key takeaway from the summit, it’s that strong data foundations and the people who are building and sharing them are crucial for a true advancement. Success won't happen on itself, it won't be out of the box - it is all about trying, failing, and trying again. Might sound trivial, yet let's be honest to ourselves. I had a great time at my first Systems Innovation conference last week. Thanks Joss Colchester for organising it. I'm always drawn to conversations about power dynamics, because I think they're often undervalued in conversations about change. These were the a-ha moments I had on my favourite topic over the two days: 1. "When agents are threatened on an existential level, they will collude and corrupt to survive." Indy Johar Certain industries are more corrupt than others in our current economic system. I often have existential crises that centre around whether I should be being more radical or not in calling things out as corrupt. I need to accept that I contain multitudes and that I feel comfortable both working with people and holding them accountable at the same time. But I also think I/we should celebrate those actors in the system who do call out corruption on a more regular basis. 2. In Dilyana Mihaylova Christian Pirzer's session on Collaboration over Competition in Systems Innovation, someone remarked on how different dynamics influence how you respond to a situation in which collaboration vs competition are the two options: 'experiencing mansplaining may make you less motivated to collaborate with somebody and actually spur on competition.' This made me think of the four I's framework, which highlights how we experience power dynamics at play on four different levels: Internalised, Interpersonal, Institutional and Ideological. I thought about how people would likely say 'Ignore him' when someone engages in mansplaining. But actually, if we consider collaboration vs competition also taking place at the four levels, we can engage in healthy competition on an interpersonal level and collaborate on an Institutional level. This is maybe a good way to navigate oppressive lived experiences with shared higher level goals. 3. Alex Fleming talked about the need to be aware of biases in systems innovation towards big data and against lived experience. This was a highly relevant reflection for a project Zaremba Alex , PhD and I are working on (link in comments). I don't think any future economy can change without valuing lived experience. Centring lived experience values those 'multitudes' I mentioned earlier in more meaningful ways. Big data does not. #systemsthinking #powerdynamics #systemschange #livedexperience

?? I had an inspiring day at the first-ever Lenny & Friends Summit in SF, hosted by Lenny Rachitsky. The event brought together some of the brightest minds in product, including amazing speakers like Mike Krieger, Kevin Weil, Shreyas Doshi, Ami Vora, Nikhyl Singhal, and Claire Vo. ? What I enjoyed most were the roundtables and the eye-opening conversations with fellow product leaders. Here are some of my main takeaways: ?? Product management is NOT dead, but it is changing. There will be fewer PMs, and their roles will evolve as organizations begin adopting AI. ?? AI adoption is challenging for everyone. Many product leaders feel the pressure to integrate AI for productivity gains but are overwhelmed by the pace of change. While individual productivity tools like ChatGPT are on the rise, true organizational adoption is lagging. Even companies providing these tools to employees aren’t seeing the efficiency boosts they hoped for. ?? Too many AI tools, too few effective ones. When seeking an AI solution, many feel they’re drowning in options, ultimately struggling to find a tool that truly solves their problem — and often giving up. The AI tools industry is still young, and many products either aren’t good enough or create more friction than value. It's exciting to see all the changes and opportunities ahead of us! It was a unique opportunity to meet amazing product leaders and exchange ideas and experiences. Can’t wait for the next summit! ??

The very fabric and foundations of workplace technology under our feet are changing... In Jan of this year, I mentioned on a partner podcast that the agents were coming. We're now seeing how every single API call, every system-to-system and human-to-system interaction can be enriched with AI. It can be done at the code-level, no-code level, and now within the very tools we have on our desktops.
