Yet, they’re invisible — not seen on LinkedIn, not even visible within their own company. ?? This is one of the challenges with remote work. While it has its benefits, if you’re never seen, how will you be noticed for opportunities? How will you grow? Here’s the solution: 1?? Be visible! Leadership to be really impactful should be the right balance of authority and empathy/kindness (treating people as individuals with dreams, aspirations and a life instead of statistics). In the corporate world in particular (and life in general), just kindness without any authority is very often construed as a chink in the armour and thus unimpactful.

This. Do NOT surround yourself with people that are yes people, or afraid to tell you the truth. Do not surround yourself with people that allow you to be ignorant to the truth. Do NOT surround yourself with people JUST like you - can they have similarities- yes. Same work ethic- fabulous, but if you do not realize that chemistry is about balance - the positives and negatives creating synergy and energy - then you need to rethink your leadership. The best teams and leaders are ones that can have their own minds but represent the organization’s interest as a whole - not just one supervisor’s. The thing about the “Good ole boy” system is those generations change hands and unless you have a strong ethic and integrity, your time will be connected to their time.

Since my recent experience with a layoff, I've learned a harsh truth: relying on just your immediate circle isn't enough anymore. In response, I made it a personal mission to network with at least three people every week—not just those in AI/ML but from diverse backgrounds. Why? Because I believe in the power of different perspectives to fuel innovation and growth. Thanks to LinkedIn, what used to take hours of in-person conferences now happens with just a few clicks. The platform has transformed how we connect, turning virtual networking into a powerful tool to reach the right people without leaving our desks. To all the silent observers out there: Don’t shy away from engaging with your network just because you prefer not to post. Even if you don't always want to be seen, remember this—visibility matters.
