This. Do NOT surround yourself with people that are yes people, or afraid to tell you the truth. Do not surround yourself with people that allow you to be ignorant to the truth. Do NOT surround yourself with people JUST like you - can they have similarities- yes. Same work ethic- fabulous, but if you do not realize that chemistry is about balance - the positives and negatives creating synergy and energy - then you need to rethink your leadership. The best teams and leaders are ones that can have their own minds but represent the organization’s interest as a whole - not just one supervisor’s. The thing about the “Good ole boy” system is those generations change hands and unless you have a strong ethic and integrity, your time will be connected to their time.
