Biggest redesign in over 16 years! ?? Congrats to our friends at The New York Times! We’re huge fans of the product envisioning process that leads to breakthroughs in discoverability. This quote from Steve Duenes gets at the heart of this work: “A good way to think about it is [that we’re] unflattening the news report… to create opportunities for serendipitous discovery.” We couldn’t have said it better. Love seeing this come to life! https://lnkd.in/gC54Q39p

Helping E-Commerce Brands Profit and Scale ??? Full-Funnel E-Commerce Strategy ??? Paid Media ??? Web Development ??? No Long-Term Agreements
Are you terminally unique? Many years ago I worked on a project that was ahead of its time. It turns out it was too ahead of its time. I was with a leading multimedia software company, and our partner was the leader in the DVR space, you probably know who I’m talking about. This was before cloud services were a thing, and what we were doing was very exciting.? I got to take a demo and put it in front of Walt Mossberg, who at the time was the technology editor for the Wall Street Journal, one of the most powerful voices in consumer technology.? He didn’t get it.? I tried to explain, again and again, but he just didn’t get how the value.? I couldn’t believe that such a smart, kind, and influential man could be so dense.? Except he wasn’t? - we were.? Probably close to 100 connected to that project from multiple companies, and we were having a group delusion of grandeur.? Much time and many dollars later, the project was scrapped.? Besides the product not being interesting to too many people because of its complexity, the specification was so long (over 400 pages!) that no one read the whole thing, and while the different teams did great work on their part, none of it functioned very well together.??? Our project was so special that no one outside our group was very interested, had it even worked.? We were creating a category and just assumed it would be great, we were so smart. Opportunity and uniqueness always need to be weighed against utility and usability.? When brands struggle to explain what they do and why it’s valuable, typically it’s a signal to step back and reassess. Sometimes explaining value is simply a matter of clarity and messaging.? Other times it might be better to move on to something that people actually want and understand. Every conversation about every product and service needs to begin with what the people want, and what they like, and go from there.? As an agency, this is where we always begin.? We forget this at our peril.?

Check it out! I'm talking all about those lovable, tiny details on the latest blog release from Big Drop Inc: Microinteractions! These small elements do an incredibly big job of fostering a sense of familiarity and connection when users operate in a digital realm. When done correctly, they can seamlessly bridge the gap between users and technology, and turn digital experiences into empathetic conversations - just think of what isn't being communicated without them! Great contribution by the master, Kirill Y., too! ?? https://lnkd.in/eshEgtP5

Though I initially pitched "AI generated photo book" idea in Agents & Future of UX Hackathon @AGI House sponsored by Khosla Ventures, HF0, Coframe, Nathan Friedman, Replit and MultiOn a month ago, our team ultimately chose to develop a life coach app which was another fun project (Aibek Yegemberdin wrote a great post about it - https://lnkd.in/gzHQ5Da2), so I spent several weekends building this app on my own. Demo: https://lnkd.in/gJMfeYdk Github: https://lnkd.in/gZimB54X Please give a ? if you liked it:) Features ?? - AI generated photo albums using multimodal similarity search (I used CLIP) - Video generation from the albums Tech Stack ?? - Frontend: Next.js, Typescript and Tailwind CSS - Backend: Python and Fast API - Storage: MongoDB for storing photo and album metadata, Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 for image and video storage and Qdrant for vector store - Others: CrewAI for image upload and album creation tasks Challenges ?? - Having to deal with 3 different databases was a pain... - I had to adjust the score threshold for text search and image search because there is a huge gap in average score Questions I got in the past ? - Q. How do you recognize a specific person - A. I think image search would be the easiest solution (Please let me know if anyone has other ideas) - Q. Can you integrate with Google Photo? - A. I think that it is possible... but we would have to be smart about how we pull the data because the data size is huge (Any suggestions?) Please let me know if you have any thoughts/ feedback!
