On this day, 14 years ago, “The enemy initiated a daylight attack with hand grenades, one of which landed inside their sandbagged position. Without hesitation and with complete disregard for his own safety, Lance Cpl. Kyle Carpenter toward the grenade in an attempt to shield his fellow Marine from the deadly blast. When the grenade detonated, his body absorbed the brunt of the blast, severely wounding him, but saving the life of his fellow Marine.” Almost four years later, he received the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions that day. Kyle, you are inspiring to all of us.
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
Incredible, humbling, heroic...thank you for reminding us of who deserves our honor!
Love this. Freedom has a price and historically it is skin or blood. It requires a continual vigilance, a commitment to serve and defend; and immense strength. I applaud those who serve and defend. WE owe them everything we enjoy in this nation. My father served in Korea, Injured and disabled for us. Two of my sons served in the marines, one saw (3) deployments. The draft was over, so I chose college and career. I have always tried to do the right thing, but honestly, I don't think I was man enough to be a hero or do what many of our sons, daughters and parents did... THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
A true HERO. To react in a split second with the only thought in your mind is saving my teammates, his brothers. He is truly what America ???? is. Thank you for your service and for taking care of your brothers. A true HERO.

3 天前I met him during a layover in Memphis, TN. He is 100% the real deal. He is humble, kind, but tough as nails as his body endures years of surgeries and recovery. Just a great man and Marine! The pictures of him with his mother are some of the most moving pictures I have ever seen.
