On October 3rd, 1993, American forces fought their way through the streets of Mogadishu in a battle that we now remember as Black Hawk Down. Mike Durant, an MH-60 Blackhawk pilot, was shot down and taken prisoner during the battle. He’s alive today because of the heroic actions of his brothers in arms. We will never forget. ????
Ich war als deutscher Fallschirmj?ger im UNOSOM II Kontingent vor Ort und am 10.04.93 als Konvoi Sicherung vom Stadion zum Flughafen mit dem Wa.Trg. Wiesel 20mm MK
This makes me proud to be an American ????
I lost a friend in that battle. Cpl. Richard W. Kowalewski J. Dude lived 2 streets over from me in Houston, TX. We used to play football at the local park. It's heart breaking. In the movie, his role was portrayed driving a Hummer. An RPF penetrated the door and blew up. His name in the credits at the end of the movie. https://mogadishumemories.com/in-memoriam/died-in-somalia/richard-kowalewski-jr#:~:text=Richard%20Kowalewski%20Jr.%20was%20among%20the%20Rangers%20killed%20while
We remember
God bless those that make the sacrifice so we may live under the blanket of freedom in America. May God watch over you sir and your family.

1 个月The bravery of those two guys was quite incredible knowing what odds they were facing and yet still prepared to fight their way to the downed Blackhawk in order to protect the pilot. Their death was portrayed quite graphically in the news films of the time. Amazing sense of duty. Incredible soldiers. ??????????????from a former U.K. soldier.
