International Men’s Day is not just a celebration of the roles men play in our lives but also a moment to reflect on the psychological well-being of men in our society. While men are often seen as pillars of strength, they too carry emotional burdens, societal expectations, and silent struggles that deserve recognition and care. From a psychological perspective, this day highlights the importance of addressing mental health challenges unique to men, such as stigma around vulnerability, suppressed emotional expression, and higher risks of stress-related conditions. It is a call to break the barriers that prevent men from seeking help and to foster a culture where emotional well-being is as valued as physical strength. Let us use this day to promote empathy, advocate for mental health awareness, and challenge rigid stereotypes. By encouraging men to share their thoughts, seek support, and embrace self-care, we not only honor their resilience but also create a foundation for healthier, more inclusive communities. To every man: your emotions are valid, your battles are seen, and your voice matters. Today, we celebrate you—not just for your roles but for who you are as individuals. #InternationalMensDay #MentalHealthMatters #MenOfStrength #BreakingStereotypes

???? Today is International Men’s Day – a day to celebrate the positive contributions men bring to our world and to shine a light on important topics like mental health, emotional well-being, and positive role models for boys. As a parent of two young sons, I often reflect on the kind of world I want them to grow up in. A world where being “strong” doesn’t mean staying silent. A world where they feel safe to express their feelings, lean on others, and know that vulnerability is not a weakness, but a strength. Breaking down societal stigmas around men’s mental health starts with us – as parents, colleagues, and friends. It’s about modeling openness and encouraging the boys and men in our lives to talk about what’s on their minds. To my sons: I hope to teach you that real strength lies in compassion, empathy, and the courage to speak your truth. ???? To everyone reading this: Let’s continue the conversation about men’s mental health and support the incredible men around us to thrive in all aspects of life. #InternationalMensDay #MensMentalHealth #Parenting #PositiveRoleModels

July 4th is an important day to honor Minoritized Mental Health Month. I’m celebrating by getting real about my own journey to wellness. It feels requisite for my life’s purpose helping others do the same. I can only take the people as far as I’ve taken myself…and I’m proud to say I’ve taken myself pretty far!! I am especially proud of myself for writing one of my bravest pieces yet for PLOS Mental Health. I share my multi-faceted expertise related to the mental health crisis continuum of care and the urgent need for us to move beyond calling 911 or going to your closest emergency room. It’s coming out later this month—stay tuned! This month is a fabulous opportunity to celebrate People of the Global Majority’s connection, solidarity, liberation, triumph, and joy…in the midst of profound losses and tragedies, due to colonization. See my tips below and feel free to share in the comments how you’re honoring this important month. I am Rupinder Kaur Legha, daughter of Sewa and Kuldip, aunty and godmomma to many, dogmom to Sachi and Saint, and a healer whose own suffering and heartaches were meant to prevent others from experiencing the same. Who are you, and how do you bring your story’s into your life’s work? #mentalhealtheducation #medicaltraining #mentalhealthcare #patientcare #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthjourney #antiracism #healthcareprofessionals #clinicalpractice #inclusivehealthcare #mentalhealthinitiative #mentalwellness #mentalhealthtraining #healthcareequity #culturalsensitivity #AntiracismInHealthcare #minority #minoritized #minoritymentalhealth

The Intersection of Faith and Mental Health: Embracing Wholeness in Our Communities As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month this May, it's essential to reflect on the profound intersection between our faith and mental health. Faith and spirituality often serve as bedrocks in many lives, providing comfort, strength, and guidance. In times of mental distress, these elements of our existence can play a crucial role, offering a unique form of support that complements traditional mental health interventions. Understanding this connection is not just about personal well-being; it's about community health. Faith communities can be places of tremendous support, where individuals feel less isolated in their struggles. These communities offer a network of care that can act as a first line of defense against mental health challenges by fostering environments where people can share their burdens without stigma. Integrating faith into mental health practices doesn't mean sidelining professional help. Rather, it involves recognizing that spiritual well-being is an essential component of overall health. Faith-based approaches can motivate individuals to seek therapy, embrace healing practices, and maintain hope during dark times. This May, let's advocate for a holistic view of mental health that includes spiritual wellness. By acknowledging the role of faith in mental health, we empower individuals and strengthen communities. We encourage everyone to reach out, share their stories, and support one another, whether through prayer, counseling, or simply being there. Together, we can break the stigma surrounding mental health and build a supportive network that recognizes the full spectrum of human wellness. #MentalHealthAwareness #FaithAndMentalHealth #CommunitySupport #HolisticHealth #BreakTheStigma

?? Today, we celebrate International Men’s Day, a day to honor the positive contributions of men to society, their families, and their communities. It's a moment to reflect on men’s mental health, well-being, and the need to foster supportive environments where men feel safe to share their challenges. This year, let’s go beyond appreciation and focus on connection. We often hear phrases like “Be strong,” but true strength lies in vulnerability, in seeking help, and in supporting each other. In my journey as a child psychologist, I've seen firsthand how pivotal it is for men to break down barriers of silence and embrace open conversations about stress, mental health, and growth. On this day, I urge everyone to: Reach out to the men in your life with kindness. Encourage open dialogue about well-being. Advocate for spaces where men can express themselves freely without judgment. Let's make it a day of not only recognition but also positive action. ?? How do you support the men in your life, and how can we collectively create a world where every man feels seen, heard, and valued? Share your thoughts below! ?? #InternationalMensDay #MentalHealth #Wellbeing #Support

#ChildrensMentalHealthWeek Who doesn’t love a story?! Reading a story together is a great way to connect with your kids and create safe spaces for open and honest conversations. At JLTS Family Services, stories are one of our favourite and most effective tools… we use them to connect with and co-regulate* young people who are struggling to manage in a moment. Often, simply getting a book out and inviting a young person to share a story is enough to shift a mood. If the story you offer to share is a therapeutic one, then all the better! JLTS has published five therapeutic stories and Once Upon a Shoebox is the latest. It is a bespoke story, written for twin girls (who love it, btw!) and it’s about the importance of having good friends and a strong support network when we need or want to try something new. It’s also about dreaming big… Watch out for posts about our other stories and our Story Sacks (which include loads of lovely resources to support emotional and mental wellness) this week! If you can’t wait that long, here’s our website: https://lnkd.in/eecVrFTX ?? *When our calm meets their chaos, co-regulation occurs #Education #TherapeuticPractice #TherapeuticStories #EmotionalIntelligence #Connection #ReadingTogether
