Together, we launched the innovative?Rush@Home?house call program. ? Based on a six-month study, the program achieved: ? 34% potential lower cost ? 18% fewer hospitalizations ? 21% reduction in ED visits ? 4.6% fewer readmissions ? Total Program Savings ? Total Actual Six-Month Savings: $761,000 ? Total Potential Annualized Savings: Over $1.5 million ? Based on these results, a program with 200 MSSP patients would?generate over $3 million in savings. Advocating for Healthcare as a Right: A Conversation with Congresswoman Lucy McBath At the National Orthopedic Leadership Conference, I had the honor of meeting with Congresswoman Lucy McBath, a leader who truly understands the needs of her constituents and fights daily for improved access to care, particularly in rural Georgia. Her passion for healthcare equity is clear—she believes that healthcare is not a privilege but a fundamental right that every Georgian should have access to, regardless of where they live or their socioeconomic status. During our discussion, Congresswoman McBath highlighted the unique challenges faced by rural communities, where access to specialists, timely care, and even basic health services is often limited. She has made it her mission to address these disparities, advocating for policies that close the healthcare gap and ensure that no one is left behind, no matter how remote their location. Her tireless work reflects her deep understanding of the struggles her constituents face, especially those in underserved areas. Whether it’s pushing for expanded healthcare coverage or improving the availability of essential services, Congresswoman McBath is on the front lines, advocating for solutions that benefit all Georgians. What resonated with me most was her unwavering belief that healthcare is a right. This principle fuels her advocacy and drives her to push for legislative changes that prioritize patient care and access. Their community health advocates/leaders ensure services are accessible and work in partnership with trusted local organizations to build community agency and empowerment to improve health and well-being. Hartford Foundation Expands Collaborative Grant Effort to Advance Home-Based Primary Care," about the third phase of our collaborative initiative involving four key organizations: The National Home-Based Primary Care Learning Network, Home Centered Care Institute, American Academy of Home Care Medicine and the newest addition, Duke-Margolis Institute for Health Policy. This initiative builds on two previous phases of this work to advance home-based primary care in the US, with the most recent addition to the group adding a focus on policy as a lever to promote home-based primary care. We are preparing the expand the National Contract Value Review process for all Phases of research next month! And what a journey it has been so far… This wonderful video is a timely boost for this work. It gives insights on delivering commercial research from the Primary Care setting and mentions the impact of expanding this process beyond secondary care NHS Organisations. This is enabled through a voluntary sign up scheme for Primary Care organisations, which is managed through the NIHR working with system partners across the UK. The intention behind establishing a consistent and predictable approach for costing and contracting is keep making it easier to set-up and access research on the places where the UK’s patients are. Earlier this month, we kicked off a fresh round of webinars for advanced clinical practitioners with Advancing Healthcare: A Critical Debate on the Merits of Advanced Practice for AHPs. In the coming months, join Professor Beverley Harden MBE FCSP, Deputy Chief Allied Health Professions Officer for England, and Health Education England’s Allied Health Professions Lead, as we explore advanced practice across various specialties, connecting global conversations among allied health professionals, educators, and researchers to advance new ways of working effectively. We’re calling for allied health specialty groups and advanced clinicians to participate in these discussions, including gynae/women’s health, ENT, frailty, imaging, prevention and population health, eye health and many other areas. These discussions will allow us to understand the broader opportunities and take a holistic perspective on wider approaches across our scopes of practice.
