Dramatic savings on energy and maintenance, more comfortable and healthier students and teachers, and better learning outcomes, as well as sharp reductions in build cost as the market and contractors gain experience. It is shortly to be irresponsible to fail to consider Passive House for schools.

The intention from the editors is to use the term “we” as a broad category of perspectives, not solely professions related directly to architecture, but instead inviting a broad spectrum of voices. Within the use of a universal "we", we acknowledge geographical, cultural, financial, political and other differences, which has an impact on the understanding of how “we” is interpreted. The intention is that the use of “we” can emphasise the aim for more unity across differences while respecting and celebrating the diversity of contexts. The term “building” recalls the name of Building Diversity and it is intended as an active and broad term, which can include for instance the action of adapting, preserving and transforming. Contributions should refer to those terms, and are welcome to challenge them as well. ?? From Georgia Tech School of Building Construction to Yale School of Art ???? Grateful for the opportunities life has afforded me to explore my passions. In 2011, I did a project at Georgia Institute of Technology on the urban heat island effect. That project kicked off my passionate obsession to contribute to climate change initiatives in the built environment and ultimately led me to Yale University where I accepted a role as the first Utilities Project Manger assigned to reduce the carbon footprint of the University as a whole. Shortly before departing the university to return to the government sector, I landed this apprenticeship which I applied to due to its unique concept which is so intrinsic to the work I do in my day job. Cooling paint, which is used largely in roofing and parking solutions, is a way for contractors to offer building coverage that reduces the building’s heat index. When I discovered this was a partnership with the Yale School of Art and Planetary Solutions I realized just how full circle this project would be for me. Finally, I would get to play around with both crafts that I love (construction concepts and art) and incite planetary change. The universe has a funny way of making sure that you find your way to the things that are meant for you. Never stop chasing that feeling. Never stop doing the right thing. Never stop asking questions. Never stop pursuing your passion, no matter how many does get shut in your face - there’s always a window of opportunity with a much more exhilarating fire escape. | Reorienteering #2 | Things that made me look up. A key motivation for me has always been to support communities get better outcomes, using place and planning as part of their toolkit. Events in the past week or so have been difficult to hear about, but I know this "discomfort" is nothing compared to those who have had experience of fear increased (I say increased deliberately because I know people already did have fears) regardless of proximity to the horrible, racist, racist events. Place needs to be a part of the conversation, but I'm not sure if we dive into that right now. I'm revisiting the material in Link 1, educating and listening. This is good news, and creates a much more accessible tool for understanding VDL in communities. The GCC Play Sufficiency Assessment won best overall at the RTPI Scotland Awards in June. This is a benchmark approach to this new requirement in Scotland. The method importantly acknowledges different needs among age groups, attitudes, wants of young people. Brilliant work.
