She emphasizes that true diversity should encompass a deep respect and incorporation of various values and viewpoints. By uniting diverse communities around shared values, the true strength of diversity is realized—not just in acknowledging differences, but in actively working together on common goals that matter to all. This approach underscores the importance of moving beyond tokenistic displays of diversity to foster genuine collaboration and mutual understanding across different societal groups. #parentalrights

MY EXECUTIVE ORDER The team at Anat Gerstein Inc doesn’t need this order as it’s part of our DNA.?But with executive orders being all the rage (I mean it both ways), here is ours: We will: 1.?????Remain 100% dedicated to supporting nonprofits and helping them achieve their goals and fulfill their missions. 2.?????Further understanding of how nonprofits are crucial contributors to great communities we all want to live in—and how we all play a role in supporting nonprofits. 3.?????Support the success of people and communities that have been marginalized, including people who identify as LGBTQ+, immigrants (regardless of status), and people who have been systematically excluded from the opportunity to thrive and realize the American dream. 4.?????Employ communications practices and language that lifts people up and ensures we do not perpetuate biases. 5.?????Continue to work to eliminate inequities through the stories we choose to tell, the words we choose to use, and the images we choose to display. 6.?????Maintain a workplace and culture where all employees feel safe, valued, that they belong, and that they can and do actively participate to the fullest extent of their potential. https://anatgerstein.com/

Blue Ridge Pride, in collaboration with at least 8 other local queer-led/serving organizations, is convening a new (and its first) monthly Advocacy Committee meeting to plan out efforts to defend and uplift our community in political and related arenas. One of our efforts will be to keep our community more informed of what is happening and how we can advocate, individually and together. If you are interested in receiving Advocacy Alerts from us, either via email or text, please sign up at the link below, or scan the QR code here. We believe it is important to be a source of information for our region on legislation and potential actions relevant to the WNC queer community. As we do not have dedicated advocacy staff, and as many local orgs are engaged in some excellent community organizing, we expect many alerts to pass through from other queer-led/affirming organizations. We promise not to spam you, but/and, a lot needs response right now. https://lnkd.in/eYzETtHa

Confront your biases, educate yourselves, and actively support trans rights. Trans people exist, full stop. I recently had a meaningful conversation with Rachel Johnson. We are women of the same age, we share qualities like focus, drive, ambition, and compassion. Reflecting back on 2014, we might have shared similar concerns about the increasing visibility of trans individuals, the rise in numbers of trans men, and the correct support for trans youth affirming their identities. Our current differing views stem from varied exposures to trans experiences. Over the past decade, my interactions and career have deepened my understanding. Education has been pivotal; while I've learned much, there's still widespread learning needed in society. My focus now is on raising awareness about trans issues and addressing the pain from exclusion and discrimination still felt by many. Through education, we foster understanding, driving positive change and acceptance. Trans people exist, full stop. #TransRights #EducationForAll #AcceptanceMatters #TransAwareness #LGBTQ+

Are you ready to make a difference and stand up for human rights? Advocating for human rights is important in creating a just and equal world. To promote and protect human rights effectively, we must use strategies that raise voices, create awareness, and inspire genuine change. Education and Awareness: The foundation of human rights activism is education. We can promote empathy, understanding, and a sense of responsibility by increasing knowledge of and spreading accurate information about human rights issues. Create training programs, workshops, and educational campaigns to educate people about their rights as well as the rights of others. Grassroots Mobilization: A successful strategy for human rights advocacy is grassroots mobilization. Promote active participation in the community and provide local activists and organizations more influence. Encourage community-based projects that address particular human rights concerns locally. To strengthen collective voices and build a unified front for change, encourage cooperation between various communities, organizations, and individuals. Advocacy and Lobbying: Take part in lobbying activities that protect human rights at the institutional and governmental levels and influence policy changes. Build connections with politicians, policymakers, and other relevant groups. Give them data, research, and firsthand accounts that demonstrate the significance and importance of solving human rights issues. To enhance the influence of your lobbying efforts, create coalitions and collaborate with like-minded organizations. Strategic Communication: In the fight for human rights, effective communication is important. Create communications that appeal to a wide range of audiences by being clear and engaging. Use a variety of communication tools to spread knowledge, narrate tales, and create awareness, including social media, traditional media, and public speaking engagements. To promote empathy and motivate action, interact with the public through narrative, visual media, and testimonials. Conclusion Let's unite, elevate the voices of the voiceless, and work tirelessly to ensure everyone's human rights are respected, creating a society where justice, equality, and dignity are the norm. Get involved today and be a voice for the voiceless! ??♀? If you know someone who could benefit from this message, tag them in the comments below. ?? "The sun does not care if you sign an executive order telling it to stop rising each morning. It just continues to rise."? This powerful quote from Matt Bernstein (he/they) truly resonates today with our ongoing journey toward human rights and dignity. Trans, nonbinary, and gender-diverse individuals have been a vital part of humanity for centuries, and no executive order can change that truth. No one should ever feel lessened, forgotten, or undervalued. As a NeuroSpicy First-Gen Latina and human ally, I've experienced firsthand the joy and enrichment of embracing diversity, even more so as a New Yorker. It's important to understand that bigotry in any form hurts us all. The time for just standing by has passed. We must take action together: connect with our representatives, participate in peaceful protests, and engage in uplifting conversations with those who might still be learning. The new admin seeks to reverse decades of progress made by LGBTQI+ and DEI advocates; however, together, we’ve faced even tougher battles in the past and won. We will do it again. Together, when we stand against discrimination, we can help create a world where everyone has the chance to shine and be their true selves! #HumanRights #Advocacy #AllyshipInAction
