?? Bioeconomy transformation is done together: the world's leading biofibre pilot centre is now in Finland! ?? Oy Keskuslaboratorio Ab (KCL) in Espoo, Finland, together with Fiber-X Finland Oy in Lappeenranta, Finland, are combining their service offerings and expertise. At the heart of the collaboration is a vision to promote sustainable development and provide a competitive advantage in the paper, board and biofibre markets. The service concept will enable the development and commercialisation of new bioproducts much faster and without costly upfront investments for companies. The Nordic Pilot Center is a collaborative service concept provided by KCL and Fiber-X Finland Oy. It offers companies and research institutes comprehensive solutions for innovation in paper, board and biofibre materials. The aim is to promote sustainable development and provide a competitive advantage for the bio-based products sector without costly upfront investments for companies. "Innovations in the bioeconomy are revolutionising manufacturing methods - scaling up new solutions is now faster than ever," says Marko Lauraeus, CEO of KCL. "Our goal is to offer this unique expertise globally. We want to bring together the people who need it and the people who know it. Development is accelerated by agile experimentation in collaboration with different experts. ?? Great news for Bio4Fuels and our stakeholders! The SUPRA.NO proposal led by SINTEF Industry has received funding from The Research Council of Norway. SUPRA.NO is about creating infrastructure to allow a holistic value chain approach to the sustainable production of fuels, platform chemicals and feed ingredients from underutilized renewable carbon sources. These sources could be waste biomass, plastics, and CO2. SUPRA.NOs holistic biochemical, thermochemical and electrochemical approach aims to bridge the gaps and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon society. It is a collaborative national initiative with participants from key research groups at SINTEF Industry, SINTEF Energy Research, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), NIBIO Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research, NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences, and RISE PFI. ? #NFR #INFRA #biomass #CO2 #plastic

#Bioeconomy value chains are emerging across Europe, but many challenges still remain. ? On 25 June, #BIOMAT will participate in the 32nd edition of #EUBCE (European Biomass Conference and Exhibition), which showcases the experiences and services offered by three EU-funded Open Innovation Test Beds (OITBs). These #OITBs are designed to support SMEs in scaling up their market ideas and prototypes in the field of #biomaterials. ? This event, which will take place in Marseille, France, aims to provide valuable insights into the resources available to help bring bio-based innovations from the laboratory to the market. Representatives from the OITBs will share their expertise and outline the support they offer to SMEs and large industries, which include infrastructure, technical assistance, and opportunities for collaborative projects. ? On April 29th, EU regional and local authorities, bioeconomy clusters, and research institutes gathered online to discuss BIOTRANSFORM’s tools for transitioning to a circular bioeconomy. ?? alchemia-nova presented our methodology for co-implementing transition pathways. Participants, familiar with tools like SWOT analysis and System Dynamics Modelling, shared valuable insights. ?? Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) showcased an impact assessment tool using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), featuring a Finnish case study on lignin extraction. Feedback highlighted the importance of environmental, social, and economic indicators. Combining LCA with a multicriteria table, we identify the best biomass valorisation options, tailored to regional priorities, supporting efficient decision-making. ?? ??
