The London Legal Walk (LLW) is almost upon us again. Next Tuesday will mark the walk's 20th year of bringing together the legal community to support free legal advice services on the front line - a big milestone and a brilliant cause!
I can remember the first time I participated in the LLW. I was in awe of the sight of thousands of lawyers who had joined together for this cause. The paths ahead and behind me were packed with suit/ trainer combos and a rainbow of firm branded t-shirts bobbing along. Some brought their dogs, others came as a team. Colleagues, ex-colleagues, opponents and new acquaintances all chatting along the route. For those willing to queue, a well deserved ice cream* could be acquired along the way. A fun way to 'get your steps in'.
More than that though, no matter which firm or chambers, size of organisation, area of law, level or route of qualification, it was warming to see the profession come out in force to support those who most need access to justice, but can least afford it.
My Keoghs colleagues and I shall be walking on Tuesday, and we would love it if you would lend your support to us - be that, by walking with us, by commenting with words of support below, by sharing this post to raise awareness to the cause, or by donating (anything at all) on our fundraising page - particularly as Davies will very generously match fund anything we raise!
(*other refreshments could also be found)
"As the cost of living rises, the need for free legal help with debt, benefits, housing, asylum and domestic violence is now greater than ever. So please come and join us at this year’s Walk on Tuesday 18th June.
What is it all for? We believe in access to justice. Increasingly, free legal advice agencies are struggling to meet the needs of some of the most vulnerable in our community. However, equality under the law is one of the central tenants of our society. That’s why, every year we bring together tens of thousands of professional to raise funds and awareness of this vital right. Thanks to you stepping up for justice at the London Legal Walk, we are able to support over 100 free legal advice charities each year, helping them provide more free specialist legal advice."
28 people from across Keoghs will be taking part in the London Legal Walk on Tuesday 18th June 2024.
The walk has been helping to fund much needed frontline free legal advice agencies for the last 20 years, so if you’d like to donate to this great cause please head to the Just Giving page:?https://lnkd.in/ek7hmEFF

4 周That's so great, Emily! I know you don't pour your heart and soul into your volunteer efforts in order to be recognized, but I'm glad others are acknowledging how amazing you are!!
