Here’s a teaching tip I learned from Daniel Steinberg who is, in my opinion, a master teacher. If you teach or present, create a separate account on your computer for when you present. You can clean it up when you need to without losing your work. It’s easy to reset your teaching environment. You won’t have notifications pop up during your talk. You can optimize colors, fonts, and everything else system-wide. You’ll never accidentally leak sensitive data or embarrassing Slack conversations. Whether you present live or you record screencasts, make a separate account.

One of my favorite parts of what I do is traveling across the country to learn from amazing educators! Recently, I visited a classroom in Portland and saw an incredible example of an?arrival routine?that checks so many boxes: attendance, social skills, and accessibility for all students. Here’s how it works: ?? Students find their name or picture on placards, supporting letter recognition and visual identification. ?? For students working on communication, a big red button is programmed with a response, making participation seamless and fun. I love how intentional and inclusive this activity is—bridging the connection between home and school. What creative strategies are you using in your classroom to support your students? As a former student, and many of you reading this may be able to relate, I think setting an example for your students is much more impactful than just merely instructing them to do so. Especially with your well-being, students look to teachers as role models on how they can live their lives, so let’s start or continue to put our own well-being as a high priority in how lives. After your brainstorm, it's time to clean-up the house and get a structure in place.?This activity should give you a rough sketch of what you need to cover and what you want to include.
