I participated in the Brackeys Game Jam 2024.1(https://lnkd.in/epzPpjV8) where we had to make a game based on specific themes within a week! Right after the theme of this jam was decided to be "What's behind the door?", my teammate proposed the idea of a retro-style side-scroller horror game, which became the base of our submission, "Room 101". Room 101 is a retro-style 2D?horror?platform game?that takes place in an old dark apartment where the player controls a man locked?out of his room 101 and doubts that his neighbours may have hidden the keys. Therefore, he decided to visit their?room. However, the something behind the door was nothing like he had ever seen. Our initial plan was to make 4 levels with 1 unique monster and 10 rooms each and 1 final stage, but it has been cut down to just 1 level in the final build, due to the lack of time. Grave Destroyer Log #3 Completing and uploading my first game was truly a great experience. As at the time I did not know how the whole process works, I ended up just making a simple executable file and uploading it on gamejolt and itch. If I had known how to upload files properly, I could have made simple changes to make the game compatible on multiple platforms and making the whole process of playing the easier on the players. Now I try to accommodate my games on as many platforms as it can meaningfully accommodate(The controls or the game perspective making sense). This not only makes the playing experiences better but also makes the game available to more people.
