Stop using the word 'sustainability' in your corporate communications. First reason: There's no such thing as a sustainable business within an unsustainable system, which is what we're currently working in (shout out to the (re)Biz community for opening my eyes to that). Reasons B-Z: The word 'sustainability' is used in such a general context that it has become a filler word that can apply to anything within the corporate responsibility space. By applying to everything, it communicates nothing. Instead, let's drill down on how you're making an impact so that we can communicate something much more meaningful. This can lead to more curious and authentic engagement... And perhaps that will help accelerate us toward the sustainable vision that we're striving for.
