Last month, I wrapped up my time at Farmer's Fridge after 6 years! Over these years, I had the chance work with an amazing team to launch new markets and implement processes across our operations as we scaled the business from 100 locations in 2 markets to over 1500 locations in 20+ markets across the US. As I closeout this chapter, I wanted to share a few takeaways from FF that I think could be valuable for anyone working to disrupt the status quo: 1. Create a culture built from the front lines: I can think of so many examples of colleagues who started as entry-level or hourly employees who’ve since taken on leadership roles and who are actively setting long term strategy for their teams and for the business. 2. Practice extreme ownership: at any stage, it was very important to hire and retain people who took matters into their own hands no matter the challenge, and who could execute to drive meaningful impact. 3. Believe relentlessly: cultivating a team with unwavering conviction in the product, and more importantly, in the people, is essential to developing a flywheel that scales and sustains through thick and thin. I hope to absorb and apply these lessons as I embark on my next adventure(more to come soon!) - For now, I want to thank all of my teammates with whom I worked directly and indirectly throughout my FF journey - here’s to 6 years of helping change the way world eats. ?? ??

As I look back on this year, it’s been an incredible journey of challenges, growth, and transformation. In January, I rejoined Haven, and since then, I’ve had the opportunity to open multiple units successfully, each presenting its own set of challenges, but all delivering rewarding outcomes. In April, I faced a new challenge: taking over a Chopstix unit, which struggled after several setbacks. I knew it would take commitment, focus, and a solid team to turn things around. The months since have been intense. Navigating peak season's demands to implement necessary changes hasn’t been easy. But with determination and teamwork, we’ve not only transformed the unit but also smashed our sales targets along the way, reaching new heights in performance. Here’s what we’ve accomplished together: - Three audits from Chopstix – all passed with 5-star ratings - Haven food audit – passed with no issues - Health and Safety audit – no issues - Financial audit – no issues - Margins improved significantly - Labour costs are back in line with the budget - Training compliance at 100% - Health and safety compliance at 100% - Mystery Shopper visits – the best the unit has ever received - A recent Mystery Shopper visit scored 100%! - Smashing sales targets and surpassing expectations - Ranked in the top 5% across the company for upselling I’m incredibly proud of the team at Craig Tara. Their dedication and hard work have transformed us from a struggling unit to one that thrives. And while the journey isn’t over—there are still a few months left in the season—I know this team will continue to deliver excellence. Well, you're done, team! As I’m closing in on 5 years with my company here’s a few things I’ve learned: 1. Change is the only constant - My company (ALICE) went from an acquisition in 2021 to a merger of 4 distinct companies in 2022 to become Actabl and it has been constant change since! 2. Change is not bad! - I/we have done a lot of growing and getting comfortable in the uncomfortable to become the best we can be. This means having the courage to try new things, potentially failing and getting up to try again. 3. Communication is key - in my role specifically I’ve learned that communication can truly make or break a team (and a company). We’ve worked hard to create a culture of feedback at Actabl - this is everything from how we share company updates, how performance reviews are conducted, what training is needed, and more. 4. If you’re unhappy in the way that your career is progressing, make a change! Use your transferable skills and see what other ways you can make an impact. Moving over to the People & Culture team is the best thing I’ve done thus far. I’m forever grateful to my company for taking a chance on me (time and time again) to allow me to progress my career in ways I didn’t think was possible! Cheers to 5 years and counting! I’m lucky to be surrounded by the best team in hospitality tech, (dare I say hospitality as a whole!)
