I am really enjoying the thought process of this. Regardless of title or current role . Walking into a team doesn't always mean immediate results. Like studying for a test but yet your observations of the current situation/goals, gives you time to collaboratively add too or critique what your teammates are/have brought to the table. We go our whole life's to educate ourselves in hopes to add our talents and ideas to create a better solution to problems. The sound of silence can be very educational if you are truly engaged. The key is the tone at the top, being able to see disengagedment vs observations that can turn good things into extraordinary results.

Dont show up to prove. Show up to improve. This is indeed powerful. The question is on how do we manage the unavoidable expectations of the new employer especially for the junior employees?!

"Don’t show up to prove; show up to improve," emphasizes a mindset shift that can transform how we approach both personal and professional growth. Rather than attending events, meetings, or conversations with the goal of proving ourselves or showcasing our achievements, we should focus on how we can contribute, learn, and grow. This perspective fosters a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration, rather than competition. By prioritizing our own development and the value we bring to others, we create more meaningful and impactful interactions.

This topic comes up all the time and leads to a discussion about the damage done by Executives/Leaders "new in their role" that feel they have to "be bold" and "make an immediate impact" to justify their new position/authority. Listen to this Simon Sinek clip where he discusses this common phenomenon and how the company Chanel deals with it.

When you think about it, anyone starting a new job has a lot to learn. They probably have a certain kind of knowledge and experience and a bunch of skills, or they wouldn't have been hired. But they don't have the institutional knowledge yet. They don't know the people, the processes and the culture of the company. You can't just plug into the matrix and upload it into your brain. ("I know kung fu.") The only way to learn it is to experience it, and that takes time. There's not another way. This is a great suggestion that new leaders should spend a few months just listening and observing until they have a really good grasp on the needs of the organization. #companyculture #leadership #employeeexperience #management https://lnkd.in/gpqa3vSy
