How many companies are you already connected to? Yes, I admit that was a bit clickbaity of a title for anyone already on the #jobsearchtip frontlines, but it is a fair question! A very late day 4 of #sessionzero. Before I get into it, thank you to all who sent me messages and support after reading about how I lost a friend yesterday. I appreciate you all more than you know and `I am so glad to be on this journey with you. In continuation of the theme of our session zero weeks, I have another prep task. Your #jobsearch search is going to be individual to you, but the steps are fairly similar for all of us. There is going to be a need at the start of each week to move forward with several tasks. What ones are most important depends on the values outlined on Day 1/2. What we do when life happens hopefully you defined on Day 3. Now we are going to lay put together a data mine for us to use during those coming weeks. Tomorrow I am going to cover writing a project charter and Saturday it is #socialsaturdaysquad which is a refreshing freestyle connection session hosted by Victoria ?? T. and more leaders in it. But just making a lot of connections is meaningless. A lot of us are changing the space here on LinkedIn because we want to help and are #opentohelping. Some of us are #opentowork and some of us are #hiring. But all of that comes from having meaning behind the connection. SO HOW MANY COMPANIES ARE YOU CONNECTED TO BEXS?!?!?! Let's look! Did you know LinkedIn allows you to make a database of your contacts and their companies? Super useful! You can see what companies your already achieved connections work for, do research and if you get excited about how much your values and the company values have in line, you can start having more conversations. Step 1. Click on your face! Click the?'Me' icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage. Step 2. Select 'Settings & Privacy' from the dropdown that you are shown. Step 3. Then selected 'Data Privacy' on the left rail. Step 4. Under the 'How LinkedIn uses your data' section, click 'Get a copy of your data'. Step 5. Select the data that you’re looking for and 'Request archive'. Step 6. Wait a bit. Like a long bit. Go get a cup of coffee. Step 7. Check your email associated with your LinkedIn account. It should be emailed there. Once you have it open it up and filter by companies. Consolidate down and edit how you wish to make it a useful resource for yourself. I would advise from getting too heavily into it until we finish setting up the Job Search Charter, but it is encouraging to know right off the bat how many companies you already are connected to and can start combing through. Note, you can go through by type right now if you want and ID what types of fields you have strong connections with already. It may give you some indication of where you need to double-down into #networking during #socialsaturday or where you need to broaden.
Jeremy Randall apologies for the late post - I know you have been following along too!
Curious Amged Alkayal if you have done this before yourself?
NOTE: It is the Connections.csv when you open it up! You can sort by A-Z for the company. Then use COUNTA formula to count if you are curious!
