To all my #jobhunt people out there... To any #socialsaturdaysquad team dreading another week of looking... Let's actually do this together and do it logically. Every day I am going to post a step in this process. Let's celebrate wins and losses and learning experiences together. It's easy to get lost in how personal a job search can be. We wouldn't work how we are #jobsearching half the time (if we were honest). This week is going to be #sessionzero of project initiation. We are going to be formulating ideas, doing ground work, and more. Starting with identifying the project (find X a job) and identify stakeholders. When was the last time you asked what you wanted out of a job? Time to write it down today. Physically write it in scraps and pieces. In thought bubbles. Don't skimp on this step. Ask your family what matters most to them from your career. Flexibility? #remotework? Bottom line dollar amount? To often we get sucked into the details of applying and can lose focus of the #whywedowhatwedo in the first place. Tomorrow we are going to craft this into an actionable goal statement. For the rest of Monday though, reflect and start with you and what you value. #projectmanagement #careeradvice #jobhuntingtips
BONUS ADVICE: Write them (as Jeremy Randall suggested) as User Stories. Those not familiar with the term - no problem I got you. User Story is a small thing that represents some value to an end-user and can be delivered during a sprint. We will get into those terms later but for Flexibility (I see you Amged Alkayal and LeahRae Rusu) it may look something like this. As an?employee, I want?several available and flexible options for me to put in my hours and time so that I can walk my dog when they need it. or As an employee, I want a high emphasis in the company's culture on personal development so I can feel comfortable taking time to study and sit for my PMP certification. or As a wife of the employee, I want consistency in Friday nights off for date night and our relationship development.
This is genius and I will definitely be participating. Thank you for this! ??
I am so down for this!! Yes!!
This is what I need right now! I have had moments of clarity and then swirl. I’m here for community. Amged Alkayal the flexibility piece is huge in this season!
I love the part of "ask your family what matters most to them" and I actually did that a couple of weeks ago, and their answer definitely was FLEXIBILITY. This Covid thing taught us a lot of lessons, and the most important one, is the value of being close to our family! Have a great beginning of the week Bexs! ?????
This is a great idea Bexs Nelson. I am HERE for the User Stories. ??

2 年Thank you for these actionable steps as I’m starting to lose steam and hope in my job search. I really appreciate the scrum framework being put to use here. ??
