Yesterday, our Manager Rebecca Lee had an inspiring day at the Social Traders Convene, connecting with leaders and innovators driving social impact across Australia. Here are three key reflections from the day: 1?? Power of Innovation: Hearing about the work of social enterprises like Chatstat was a highlight. As an AI-driven business focused on mental health, ChatStat is developing tools to provide real-time mental health support, helping bridge access gaps and reduce stigma. Their innovation is a powerful example of how tech can create meaningful social change. 2?? Collaboration for Change: The event highlighted the strength of collaboration in the social procurement space, showcasing how organisations and intermediaries are working together to maximise impact. 3?? Growing Impact Ecosystem: The diversity of voices at conference—from social entrepreneurs to corporate leaders—demonstrated the expanding ecosystem committed to leveraging procurement for social good. The #EdelmanTrustBarometer measures credibility and #trust in different groups, like charities, businesses, governments, and news outlets. It shows that starting 2005 trust has shifted from authorities to peers, with “a person like me” emerging as a more credible spokesperson and source of information. Interestingly, in this “battle for truth” business stepped in to fill the void left by the leadership crisis, and by 2021, they were seen as the most trusted, competent and ethical. However, the trust in companies from global powers has dipped, and peers and scientists are now the most trusted sources. The #survey also analysed the embrace or rejection of #innovation, including #AI and #greenenergy, and the potential for #sciencecommunication to improve the messages and impact the acceptance of novel ideas by public.
