As Quantum technology heralds the next "Gold Rush" globally, the various arms of Research, Industry, Start-up fraternity and Governments are pooling resources and funds to reap early harvests. From Quantum Communication to Quantum Sensing to Computing to Quantum Materials, these are exciting times! And Bengaluru cannot be far behind! Bengaluru Quantum Tech Initiative is an ambitious?project to bring together the various critical components driving Quantum?technology in India, in line with the National Quantum Mission. Towards this inspiring goal, BeST organized a highly focused "Brainstorming on BQTI" event, bringing together stalwarts from some of the finest Research Institutes, Industry Leaders and Start-up Builders from Bengaluru Prof. Urbasi Sinha from Raman Research Institute, Prof. Apoorva Patel, Prof. Arindham Ghosh and Prof. Akshay Naik?from Indian Institute of Science (IISc),Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE) and Prof. Subhro Bhattacharjee from International Centre for Theoretical Sciences, Mr. Sesha from IBM, Mr. Chandra and Mr. Sridhar from Tata Consultancy Services and Mr. Gireesh from Capgemini brought in their insightful perspectives from Research and Industry respectively while Mr. Ananth from QET Council of India ( Quantum Ecosystems and Technology Council of India) brought in the views of start-ups in Quantum tech. The event was moderated expertly by the Co PIs of the BeST Cluster - Prof. Ambarish Ghosh and Dr.Taslimarif Saiyed, PhD. The discussions centered around several key points that are crucial for the BQTI to take the role of creating an effective platform that can converge the various strengths inherent to the Bengaluru Quantum Tech landscape to drive meaningful outcomes. Participants delved into topics such as industry adoption of Quantum products, creating common test beds to support startups, nurturing and developing skilled manpower, preventing brain drain by providing seed support to startups, and advocating realistic timelines and expectations to policy and strategy makers. BeST remains committed to fostering partnerships and bringing about change in the quantum technology landscape.
