I came across this good and bad example of accessibility at the weekend. ?? Great to see this organisation installing a well designed wheelchair accessible picnic desk, but remember accessibility is about more than design. Other factors to consider are location and provision. For the last year I’ve used a CAD (computer aided design) package on Houzz which has been great but it was time lto try SketchUp as it has different capabilities. I’ve been working behind the scenes and delighted with my progress. SketchUp’s abilities are endless! It might look easy but creating a to-scale floor plan, sourcing and placing each product to fit takes time and skill. Here’s my latest project for a client where I’ve been sourcing modern and comfortable investment pieces of furniture that fit into her open plan living dining area. Working with existing placements like radiator and tv aerial meant options were limited but by adding an open bookshelf this helps creates two zones- one to watch tv and another to sit and admire the garden or dine. All of which were must haves in the client’s brief!
