The USAID Climate Adaptation Support Activity (CASA) is inviting Latin American universities to submit proposals to research the impact of climate change in Afro-descendant communities. The selected subcontractor will lead a co-creation process with community leaders to develop a comprehensive Climate Strategy and Action Plan. "It is only by tackling the indirect, messy, systemic and often political issues which drive fragility... that we can support people to build their resilience to climate shocks." ?? In a new blog originally published on Devex, our policy expert Mauricio Vazquez makes the case for an urgent rethink on climate security narratives. The popular story that climate change is increasing the probability of conflict and insecurity is overlooking a far more complicated reality, and needs to be flipped on its head: "If we are serious about building climate resilience in conflict-affected countries, we would do better to look more closely at relationships in the opposite direction.
