It's not about the gaps!
Hiring Managers…why are you focusing on the in-between stuff?
My career highlights:
Sales & Marketing Executive, medical diagnostic equipment ~2.5 years
Area Manager, plumbing and electrical wholesaler ~2.5 years
Area Manager, country sports wholesaler ~3 years
Area and Key Account Manager, photographic & sports optics importer
~10 years.
I dipped a toe in other sectors to see if I liked them.
I earned some money to pay the bills, sometimes on temp contracts and short campaigns for FMAs.
I learned new skills.
I stayed busy before my next, successful, long term position (see above) got offered to me.
Any common thread? Yes! - I was my regular enthusiastic, plugged-in and task-focussed self in each and every one of those short-term roles.
I turn up, engage and contribute. It’s that simple!
