Thoughtful Reflection: Hi, my name is Benita, and I’ve spent over 15 years working in digital marketing across multiple channels, managing both local and international campaigns with significant budgets. I’ve built a career that I’m proud of, but I’ve now reached the highest point in my current role. There’s no further room for growth, so I’ve decided to explore new opportunities that will allow me to develop and reach my ultimate goal of becoming a Chief of Marketing. It’s been a challenging journey—despite my experience and qualifications, securing a new role has proven more difficult than I expected. The job market is competitive, and the process can feel overwhelming at times. I’ve been contemplating a move to Cape Town, but how do you take that leap without first securing a position? Despite these challenges, my passion for digital marketing keeps me motivated. I thrive in competitive environments, and I’m always ready to take on new challenges. I know the right opportunity is out there, and I’m confident I will find the perfect fit to help me achieve my goals by the end of this year. #JobHunting #Hiring #DigitalMarketing #CareerGrowth #MarketingLeadership

"Shoaib - why did you quit that job you LOVED???" ?? NEWSFLASH: Most people don't leave a job they LOVE (and one that is well-paid) ?? So, why did I leave my admin role at a Public Bank? I dove into the job market, aiming for entry-level marketing roles. To my surprise, every "entry-level" position demanded years of experience I didn't have. Feeling cornered, I took an admin/office assistant role. It was well-paid and respectable, but it wasn't what I truly wanted. Every day in that office felt like a countdown. I was trapped in a role that didn't: ?Teach me anything of value ?Satisfy my creative needs ?Allow me to fulfil my potential ?Give me opportunities to think outside the box Deep down, I knew social media was my calling. So, while working my 9-5, I took it upon myself to gain real experience in social media. I began managing social media for a sports equipment company, diving into strategy, content creation, and marketing. On top of that, I got Google scholarship to learn digital marketing & earned certification in digital marketing from Google. Fast forward to now: -> I finally had the confidence to quit my mind-numbing admin job and pursue my dream career in social media management and content creation. My Takeaways from the Past Year: ? I'm in the driver's seat of MY life. ? I am worth more than an unfulfilling job where every day is the same. ? It's crucial to create my own opportunities! What about you? Have you ever felt stuck in a role that didn't fulfill you? #opportunities #unfulfillingjob #9to5life #confidence #adminjob #management #socialmediamanagement #contentcreation #digitalmarketing

The past several months have been a humbling experience for me professionally. You see I am a 59-year-old marketing communications professional with more than 30 years of experience and I find myself in the market for a new job. What you will see in my profile is someone with a very broad and successful marketing communications career in both the agency and corporate worlds. What you will see is that my first two jobs take up 26 years of that 30+ year career. My LinkedIn profile does not show you that after 2015 my wife and I became the primary caregivers for a pair of aging parents. We decided that we needed to stay local and make the best of a challenging situation. So, I took a series of roles that allowed me to stay local and have flexibility in terms of work/life balance. Those are the sacrifices we make for family and I have zero regrets. So today, I am once again looking for a new role in marketing communications, but I now have more flexibility with those caregiving responsibilities lessened. However, I find the job market more challenging, especially for someone “pushing” 60 years of age. But here is a little piece of advice for those in a hiring role. Those of us nearer to the end of our careers than the beginning still have a lot to give. I for one, want to cross that career finish line at a full-on sprint! I no longer am focused on title or position. What I am focused on is: ·Working for an organization that believes in teamwork and enjoying the work. ·Working for an organization the values the contributions of marketing communications to drive growth. ·Working for an organization that pays its people for the value they bring to the group. Doing something for 30 years teaches you quite a bit. It is amazing what I learn each and every day and where those lessons come from. So, if you want to add an individual to your team that gets up every day full of life and energy – ready to conquer the day – give me a call – I’m your guy!

Hi, hello there. I have a lot of new faces following me, and I thought now would be the perfect time to introduce myself again. I'm Dan, a marketer who grew from social media manager to Vice President, Global Marketing (it took 13 years) and now splits time between two vibrant cities. Here's the highlight reel: Career journey: - 14 years in destination marketing - Climbed from Social Media Manager to VP of Global Marketing at San Francisco Travel Association - Grew web traffic to 12M+ annual visits - Built a 1.25M+ social media following - Launched award-winning campaigns that helped keep San Francisco top-of-mind and drove real economic impact - Self-taught on most marketing tech out there Life plot twists: - Moved to Austin 3+ years ago, initially living "bi-gulf coastal" between ATX and SF - Now rooted in Austin with my wife, 15-month-old daugher, and dog Bowie - Still frequent SF for work, keeping a foot in both worlds - Proud owner of two Emmy awards and one living, breathing Emmy (pure coincidence!) My mission here? To share my story and empower you to craft yours. I'm offering: - A blueprint for career growth (that has worked for me and one that changes further into your career) - Insights on navigating geographic moves and different job duties - Strategies for balancing personal milestones with professional ambitions - Tools to articulate your unique journey Whether you're: - Climbing the corporate ladder - Switching time zones - Juggling work-life integration I'm here to help you tell your story through telling my own (and hopefully give you the formula for it). --- P.S. This photo was taken in Australia, where I discovered how magical kangaroos are.
