So how do you create the right culture for your organisation? When I first started in banking at our Contact Centre near Northwich in Cheshire back in 2001, we had 2 simple things that made our office different to any other in the same organisation, but our colleague engagement scores and retention rates were always so much higher.? These 2 things were:? ? We had fresh fruit delivered twice a week ? ? We had the infamous “trolley” service that came around serving tea and coffee twice a day at your desk When we had site visitors, they’d always be amazed at the simplicity of these 2 things. How could a free bowl of fruit and tea or coffee served at your desk create such a legacy of being a great place to work. It’s simple, colleagues felt valued as the company was investing in a service for them. As time has gone by, the service and offerings for colleagues to create a fantastic culture has evolved and grown to things like free/discounted onsite gyms, massages at your desk and even bring your dog ?? to work day, however the premise of this is still the same… If you fail to invest in colleagues wellbeing then don’t expect to create a culture of being a great place to work.
