A peaceful soul allows you to grow into a better person. Holding onto grudges, anger, and hatred only blocks the way for peace to enter. These negative emotions create a person the world already has enough of—a negative one. But when you rise above, smile at those who’ve wronged you, you disarm them. Today I came across a quote and when I went deeper into its meaning I understood healing in a new way. It's not just about picking up yourself again to live a beautiful life but also understanding and accepting. Healing is important because it helps you understand some hard truths about relationships. First, attention isn't the same as love. Just because someone pays attention to you, it doesn't mean they truly care about you. Love is deeper; it involves understanding, support, and genuine concern for your well-being. Similarly, attachment is not the same as connection. Being attached to someone can mean you're afraid to let go, even if the relationship isn't healthy. True connection, on the other hand, is when you feel understood, valued, and safe with someone. Lastly, accepting the bare minimum from someone isn't real effort. Effort means going out of your way to make the other person feel valued and important. It's about consistency, thoughtfulness, and actions that show you genuinely care. When you heal, you start to see these distinctions clearly. You learn to seek out real love, true connection, and genuine effort, rather than settling for less. ARE WE ALL SECRETLY SELFISH AT HEART? We can all do things to help others But are our good deeds actually selfless or are we just doing good to feed our own ego All our good deeds are seemingly innocent, giving a friend a lift, helping someone across a road, carrying a suitcase But why do good? Do we want to look good in front of friends Do we need to rationalise something about our own self worth in our heads Do we need to counter a feeling inside of not being good enough If this is our motivation then all our good deeds are still selfish at heart, and what does that count for?
