For some reason there are not many photographs extant of Pan Am Lockheed l-1011-500 TriStars in flight, despite a not insubstantial fleet. A dramatic exception is seen here as N504PA “Clipper National Eagle '' climbs sharply out of Los Angeles-LAX on the very last day of 1983. In 1986, when the company disposed of its L-1011-500 fleet, N504PA was one of the aircraft that was not transferred to United Airlines as part of that year’s Pacific route sale.
