For some reason there are not many photographs extant of Pan Am Lockheed l-1011-500 TriStars in flight, despite a not insubstantial fleet. A dramatic exception is seen here as N504PA “Clipper National Eagle '' climbs sharply out of Los Angeles-LAX on the very last day of 1983. In 1986, when the company disposed of its L-1011-500 fleet, N504PA was one of the aircraft that was not transferred to United Airlines as part of that year’s Pacific route sale. The airplane instead went to Delta as N754DL.
