Leeward Renewable Energy, LLC has proudly announced the successful completion and operational commencement of its Horizon Solar Project, a 200-megawatt (MW) facility located near Pearsall in Frio County, #Texas. This significant milestone underscores LRE's commitment to advancing #renewableenergy initiatives in the region. The Horizon Solar Project will play a pivotal role in supplying renewable energy to Verizon Communications,?Inc. (Verizon) as part of a Renewable Energy Purchase Agreement (REPA) previously established between the two entities. Over its operational lifespan, the Horizon Solar Project is projected to mitigate #greenhousegasemissions equivalent to powering 1.2 million Texan households. Furthermore, the project's contribution of approximately $30 million in tax payments will directly benefit the local County and schools, fostering economic growth and #sustainability. Enerdeal, a leading renewable energy solutions provider that joined the EDP group in 2023, will implement two solar projects for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg. These projects include a 5 MWp rooftop installation and a 2 MWp carport system, generating approximately 6,500 MWh annually and saving 3,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year. ?? Under a 20-year agreement, the projects will follow an “As-a-Service” model, with EDP securing 100% of the investment and sharing the financial benefits with Goodyear. Expected to be operational by early 2025, these projects align with Goodyear’s sustainability goals to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2040. “The solar as-a-service financing model allows our clients to rapidly and effortlessly deploy a massive renewable energy solution, fully in line with climate urgency and the growing strategic concern of most leading industries for Corporate Social Responsibility.
